Yea its a sandwich NOT a Po-Boy. I never said a sub couldnt be good. I said a SUB Sandwich that does not use NO French Bread IS NOT a Po-Boy. Thats just fact. Basically you have a Hoagie, Grinder or SUB. The fact is that a Po-Boy is different in the fact that it has a certain type of bread. If you put salami and olive salad on rye does it make it a Muffalatta? NO you have to have the bread.

Places that BLOW George' SANDWICH away.
Frankie and Johnny's
Domilise's
R&O's
Johnny's Po-Boys
Uglesich's
Parasol's

A 3ft shrimp poboy for $6? Must be some damn fine ingredients going in there.

It's $6 for a foot and half shrimp. It's about $12 for a 3 foot long one.

A Po-Boy should not cost more than 10 dollars. Its not supposed to be an expensive item. Georges just lives on hype it doesnt deserve and overcharges for average food. The one under the bridge is decent and I like them but I will NEVER return to the one on highland. Worst management and service I have seen at any place in Baton Rouge.

Only place I know of that uses NO French Bread in BR is Roccos.

Roccos is crap so what does the bread do for them?

My Opinion:
Danny Clydes- excellent po-boys, bread and toppings (especially shrimp or fries and gravy)

Save More- decent po-boys for the price (3 ft for $12 ain't bad) (about $4 a foot which is comparable to subway except you're getting Shrimp, etc.) They taste pretty good (def. don't suck)

George's- maybe a little over priced, but they def. give you alot of food. The shrimp on the po-boy were bigger here than D&C and Save More.

Rocco's- def. overpriced on all their food. Yall say they actually use good bread, blah, blah. Screw the bread. They taste Ok, just not good enough for the price.

Only had the Roast Beef one there it was ok. Im not sure if they are using NO bread though it is close though and they claim so. But yea they could put it on a different loaf and it would be crap.

Where is Darrels?

Of course a shrimp po-boy has to have quality fried shrimp. its pretty easy to go cheap in that regard. Now give me a Debris poboy...

Catman88 I think that's their main argument against you.

It seems like you're saying the bread is more important than what's on it.

I'll take some big nice shrimp on a decent po-boy bread anyday over some little shitty shrimp on some great NO bread.

Well if you are going to call it a Po-Boy then Im just saying you have to MAKE a Po-Boy first which is defined by the bread. Put awesome shrimp on Sub bread and you have an amazing Shrimp Sub you just dont have a Shrimp Po-Boy. I prefer medium sized shrimp however. You can have shrimp that are too big and make a bad sandwich. Just sticking with BR I would rather one from Sammy's than Georges though.

Havent been there in about 8 years. Was pretty good then. Cant speak for it now. Of course some people will swear by it and put Mothers down and other will do vice versa. The more popular places have that stigma. Lately I have been sticking to R&O and Parasols when I head there and want a poboy.

Ahh wait Domilise's does have to take a hit for not using thin tomato slices but instead ketchup. Dont really get why they do that.

I was going to suggest the shrimp poboy from Rainbow Express on Gardere, but I guess I'll have to just call it a shrimp hoagie now. Damn, I guess my taste buds have been wrong all this time now. I used to think it was a good poboy.

For those of you who are interested in trying it, don't go after dark. It's got so many shrimp on it that they fall off.
