There is a gas station down Nicholson called "Save More"!
I believe that it's on the corner of Iris and Nicholson. It has a sign out front that says biggest poboys in town (and that's true.)
You can get a FOOT and a HALF or a THREE FOOT POBOY!!

The foot and a half run for about $4.29 (including tax!) This includes hamburger, hot sausage, smoked sausage, Catfish .....
Shrimp and Oyster is about $6 for a foot and a half.

The price of the 3 foot is just double what you pay for the foot and a half.

They are delicious and definitely worth it.

If you've tried them, let me know what you think.
This is what they look like!! YUMM!

uhh French Bread and NO French Bread are not the same. If it isnt from one of the Big three NO bakeries then its crap for a Po-Boy. Only place I know of that uses NO French Bread in BR is Roccos. Places in BR still just dont get it that a Po-Boy is all about the bread. Toppings come second.

Unless its 4am and I am shite canned I have absolutely no desire to eat at DCs. If thats what you call a good poboy than this place Save More sucks as well.

There sure are some poboy snobs around here. If you haven't had a good poboy from homemade or non "name" bread, then you live a sheltered life. It is possible.

Its just that bread that has had the same recipe since the 1800s IS THAT WAY for a reason. NOT having a poboy made from Leidenheimer then you live a sheltered life. There is a reason that the very best places in N.O. DO NOT make thier own bread but order from these bakeries. Baton Rouge in fact has some of the worst po-boys in the state because they dont seem to grasp this logic.

its across from the better looking chevron gas station north of campus, although that area has somewhat potential with the new condos nearby

Call it a hoagie or a sub or what you will if it doesnt have NO style french bread then IT IS NOT a PO BOY plain and simple. The reason BR Po-Boys suck is because people dont demand the best. Hell its the very reason the majority of food in the US is below average. People do not demand better like other countries.

LINK

Hell look at what the common theme is for what makes a Po-Boy a Po-Boy.. Its the BREAD! Anyone that knows anything about a Po-Boy knows that its all about the bread. I have seen people here throw meat on a hot dog bun and call it a po-boy.

I'll put the seafood poboy's at George's up against any seafood poboy in New Orleans.

Cut the crap about the bread, if its a good sandwich its a good sandwich.

Also, Save More is crap. It really is crap. It should not be compared to D&C's.

A 3ft shrimp poboy for $6? Must be some damn fine ingredients going in there.
