Pizza delivery the biggest scam?

Where the hell are you ordering a medium two topping pizza and bites for $17.99 without some kind of a discount or code? That’s just stupid.

I deduce from your menu selections that you chose Domino’s, which is not the worst choice when it comes to delivery pizza. Please weigh your pizzas when they arrive and share with us. I regret to inform you that you failed to order what is arguably Domino’s best current offering: the Domino. It is a very formidable Detroit style two piece brick of a pizza that is superior to Jet’s. I recommend getting the one topping special for just $5.99. The three topping Domino is 7.99, but if you get the one topping special at 5.99 and then add two extra toppings each extea topping is 75 cents, so you will save 50 cents ordering it this way rather than getting the three topping 7.99 “special” (special for Domino’s stock value). I have a coupon for 50% off any dessert because this is my Domino’s membership pizzaversary and would have happily given you that coupon had you informed me of your intent before you ordered.

We have never, not even once, ordered our food to be delivered to our home. The idea of it seems barbaric and the worst possible way to consume food. This is especially the case for pizza, which should be eaten within two minutes of removal from an oven. Boxing it and transporting it ruins the crust. Even more, at least at the actual Domino’s, the pricing is far more welcoming to the budget conscience.

Nonetheless, consider the price of Domino’s in 1988 and adjust that cost for today and you will find you actually have quite a bargain. Consider the McCallister’s Christmas of 1990 order from Little Nero’s. Ten pizzas for $12.25 each and one of those was plain cheese. In today’s dollars, those pizzas averaged $31.30 each. Were those pizzas 14”, as is a Domino’s large, or 16”, which is Domino’s XL? Most online suggest they are 16”, but when I scan the photo of the rail-thin delivery driver holding them, I surmise those pizzas to be 14”.

When I order Domino’s, I almost always order the following: two large one topping pizzas, one NY style and one thin crust. They are $7.99 each, a bargain yes, but not quite as good as it was until October 12, 2022 when they replaced a three topping large for one topping at the same price. The 16 count Parmesan bites are always offered to me at discount for $2.99. Unfortunately, when picking up, the computer no longer allows me to include a tip to the hardworking staff, which is why I always bring a crisp $10 bill to give them upon pickup. My total is under $20 before tax and before tip.

Your night inspired me to purchase Domino’s. We had a large lunch at Galatoire’s today and were nearing Uncle’s condo at the beach, of which our mutual friend Toof, is well acquainted, when I first read your post.

“Mother, we must get a Domino and dessert. LSUAlum2001 purchased the two topping two medium special. Plus I have Domino’s rewards and the half off dessert special this month.”

Mother relented and I ordered online and we arrived just as the pizza was exited the conveyor belt oven. They were ever so kind. I queried if it would be a bother to them to leave both boxes open and they were happy to oblige.

We just arrived and I devoured the pizza and three lava cakes. I was not impressed by the lava cakes. They were dry and left a sticky feeling at the back of my throat.

The Domino weighed an impressive 27.2 ounces. I told you it was a brick. The special I used was a 40 membership loyalty reward points redemption for the 5.99 pizza. It was the best use of 40 points, with each point valued 14.999 cents, which was significantly better than the next highest redemption value. The dessert was 4.49, which meant I would receive zero points for the order, as you must spend $5 or more to receive 10 reward points.

My wiles are too sharp to fall for a 99 cent dipping sauce to bump the order above $5. So I instead added an additional topping which was 75 cents. My total was about 5.50, but I still gave the valiant bakers $10 for their under appreciated toil.

I ordered this last week and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I made two meals off of it. Can’t beat the price either

The only thing I ever order and have delivered is a pizza. There is something decadent about laying in my pool, drinking a nice red, and having a guy come through the gate and bring us a hot pizza.

I tip well, so the total cost of this luxury is about $35. Drive through fast food price.

Carry out dominos large pepperoni. $7.99

A single pepperoni delivery with tax and tip. $27.99

Cheap pizza is fine when it's cheap at $25 a pie I'll just go get better pizza.

All that for $17.99 sounds like he used a code already.

We always do pickup. I'm not paying someone a bunch of money and tip to bring it to me. Takes 10 minutes to go pick it up.
