I'll be controversial....most of the "old line" restaurants in New Orleans I find are overrated from strictly a food perspective...Commander's, Arnaud's, Galatoire's...I get the atmosphere and tradition all that bullshite...but if we're talking just food alone...there are probably 20 restaurants in New Orleans I'd rather spend my money at.

Ruffinos just poached a very good chef who is tasked with modernizing them some and putting them back on the map in BR.

"Overrated" doesn't mean "no good." "Underrated" doesn't mean "great."

There's a lot of truth here, although I enjoy Commanders at lunch for special occasions, atmosphere wise

Where from?

I go a decent amount due to the proximity to my house and I enjoy the atmosphere. It seems to have become “stale” so to speak over the last year. I like the idea of a new chef coming in.

This. Might be the best place in BR to watch a game, have some drinks, and snack on crap food. Certainly not recommending it for dinner or lunch though.

Although it's an absolute shame what they did with the expansion, closing it in. Now it's just loud as hell in there.

Whataburger is solid, but overhyped. Arby’s is solid, but unfairly maligned.

IMHO, CFA has gone downhill lately and is too expensive. Similar to Cane's.

Still good, but not worth paying a fortune.

Agreed! But don't go on a Sunday for lunch, unless you just want to make yourself feel like a big spender by leaving a 12% tip....Compared to the rest of the crowd.

This thread could have been a lot better without your final sentence. All the attention will be on that, which isn’t what you were asking.

Well, that was the hook in the OP
