I posted this earlier.
If you were there when the bars on N Highland closed, we probably ran into each other. Haha!

Except they dropped the ham and cheese empanadas many years ago. Those things were the shite.

John Folse’s place across the highway

The various iterations of speakeasy level restaurants in the Kenilworth shopping center

Edit: I guess my comments I added didn't get saved. I'll try again.

Folse : In the mid 70's I remember going to Lafitte's Landing for 10 cent oysters and 25 cents drafts on Tuesdays.

Joe Reeds - Used to go there to see Greg Wright play jazz/fusion. Also remember watching him & Light Years play in the Southdown parking lot of the bar that existed where Solera is now.

Checked this thread and didn't see a mention of the old "Hummingbird Grill" on St. Charles Ave. It was a 24/7 place that served street people and politicians alike and there was no telling what type you'd run into any time of the day.

Loved their "Half a Bird and Fries" when I was just ordering for me.

Also, honorable mention goes out to "Richard's" that was on Gentilly next to a liquor store and ice house. When I was playing lots of darts in league our team would sometimes wind up there for a late night breakfast and a few more beers.

Pizza night at Vince’s on Highland/Staring and the original Mike Anderson’s college town seafood on Highland near the gates. Both great memories with my Dad.

Old school Edie’s in Lafayette. Not the take out only small one open today but the bigger one in the 90’s with all the cute college waitresses.

I can't believe it didn't get mentioned until the 3rd page, but in the 70's and early 80's on Nicholson in B.R. it couldn't be beat

Wow - Bull's Corner was near Baptist Hospital. Back in the 70s-early 80s, my ex-wife's brother was frequently a patient there as he fought leukemia. Often, we would go grab him a hamburger from Bull's Corner and bring it to him (nurses approved). When we knew the end was near, I went to Bulls Corner one night when he said he really needed a hamburger from there. I got back to the room, and started to arrange the food on his bed tray and he peacefully passed. Hit me hard.
