I'm headed to NYC in September and I was looking for some great Italian food and some pizza. Anyone have any recommendations?

I'll also take some breakfast recommendations...

Roberta’s is a favorite sit down pizza. My favorite slice to go was Vinnie’s (got the rec from Reddit), but there’s several good places for by the slice.

I posted this in another thread thread, but helpful for your pizza request:

quote:

If in Manhattan, my two favorite pizza spots are NY Pizza Suprema and Joe & Pat's.

Vinnie's (Williamsburg), Joe's (Williamsburg), Roberta's (Bushwick/Williamsburg), and Lucali's (Carroll Gardens) are all good spots in Brooklyn. My dad lives near McCarren Park, so Joe's and Vinnie's are easy stops for me.

In terms of Italian, Lilia is very good. Right near McCarren Park. My dad took me to Michael’s over Christmas holiday last year. It was a hike, but incredible.

This plus John's on Bleeker St. Plus a vodka pizza or tie-dye from Rubirosa.

Went in 2017. Honestly not that impressed with the pizza. It was good, mind you, just not measuring up to the reputation of a NY pizza.

I was in NYC over Memorial Day and had John's of Bleecker. We waited in line for about 20 mins, not too bad. The pizza was good, but not anything life changing. I have also had Lombardi's on Spring Street and it is good as well. Both are old school brick oven pizzas.

For an upscale breakfast go to Norma's in the Parker Meridian Hotel. It's a beautiful hotel and the breakfast is top notch. It's great for couples or families.

Try Veneiro's on 11th for dessert. It is an old Italian bake shop with pastries, cannolis, etc.
And of course there's always Jr.'s cheesecake.

My pie on 57th and Lexington by Central Park was really good. It’s not NY style but great!
