I'll second Joe's in the West Village. A 7pm show at Comedy Cellar followed by a few slices at Joe's is one of my favorite nights I've had.

re: New York City Food....Pizza
Let me put it like this...

Last time I was in nyc, I bought containers and aluminum foil to carry Prince St Pizza on the plane and bring home to my wife. The Soho square. I can’t imagine people not thinking it’s life changing.

I also overnighted her cupcakes from the little cupcake bakeshop across the street. Those are our two places.

Just got back.. Had good pizza at Marta

Eataly on 23rd and 5th also has excellent pizza and it's Mario Batali and Lidia Bastianich's Italian food mall, so you can sample a little of everything under one roof.

Felidia is Lidia Bastianich's flagship restaurant and imho, the best Italian restaurant in the city. The Tutto Crudo fish app is delicious.

Carbone is a high end Italian restaurant with delicious seafood and pasta, located in NOHO, (North of Houston Street)

Fiaschetteria Pistoia has and outstanding menu with two locations, in the East and West Village and makes their own fresh pasta..
For brunch, I like Carroll Place If you go, definitely hang out at the bar upstairs. It's a very cool, unique space.. And if you want to check out celebrities and star spot, Waverly Inn at 16 Bank Street, both in the West Village

And definitely Balthazar, especially late night, but it's very expensive. Balthazar’s sister restaurant is Morandi It’s very good, as well.

One of the coolest Chinese restaurants in New York for dinner is Tao Downtown The Chilean Sea Bass appetizer is my personal favorite app in the city.

Union Square Cafe is bistro fare with all fresh ingredients. The duck is outstanding.

One more.. If you are in pursuit of a great burger, check out Burger, Inc at Gansevoort Market. It's at 353 West 14th Street at 9th Avenue, a block away from Chelsea Market.

I was told that too by a few NY people, but it got downvoted on here I'm still going to smash it when we go back in NOV. All the recs. I got from the Chicago guys were spot on, so I will just ignore the haters on here.

If you're on the Upper West Side, a buddy of mine owns Made in New York Pizza. It's worth checking out.

They also own Hunt and Fish Club in Midtown and it's a beautiful space.

Juniors will ship their cheesecake, that’s another place I would recommend. We have ordered two since going there last year.

His name is Eytan Sugarman. Very nice guy. And I’d say the style is definitely similar. He also owns The White Horse in the WV.. Anyway.. There’s another restaurant in the Bowery that’s very interesting.. Veselka is an old Ukrainian diner and if you want to try borscht and Stroganoff.. the food is very good. Veselka also serves breakfast.

Coincidentally, White Horse Tavern just got a plug today in Bloomberg Dining for their Scotch Egg.. but the Scotch Egg at The Breslin is very hard to beat. Interesting though that the former British chef, Ed Szymanski at another of my favorite spots, The Spotted Pig is now with Eytan at White Horse.

breakfast recommendations

If you're around Soho in the morning, stop by Yonah Shimmel bakery. It's just a humble bagel shop, but it's been around forever. This little Jewish guy will make you a cup of coffee and serve you a knish or fresh baked bagel. The bagels aren't tough and chewy like other places. It's a unique classic New York experience that's more for an experienced New York visitor than the typical tourist type places. And by all means, try a knish. You won't get them outside of Manhattan

Murray's Bagels is also a good bagel shop, where they'll load your bagel up with lox and cream cheese. They have a larger variety of bagels and toppings.

And honestly.. that Prince Street pizza looks like hot burnt garbage. Made in New York is definitely better. If you were served that deep dish in Baton Rouge, people on here would be torching the place. GTFOH
