For serious tequila these brands are sold in Louisian: Amatitena, Cascahuin, Fortaleza (good luck finding any), Fuenteseca.

For a pretty bottle and ok tequila: El Magico

Never had it, but yea that bottle is awesome.

I'm sitting at the bar at Mestizo, and they have dozens of different tequilas. Some in plain bottles, some in very ornate bottles. I'm sure rhey would sell you a bottle or two.

Either one of these is super smooth and less than $150 a bottle. My preference is the 1942

If you want real tequila I’d suggest something that’s not super expensive and loaded with additives like these two.

Fortaleza if you can find it. The corked tops are handmade with the intention of being reused.

El Tesoro is fantastic and if you want a special run, most places will have a bottle or 2 that is in the $100-$200 range.

Tequila Ocho, Organic 1,2,3
Mijenta, Volvan, G4 and several others in that $50-$80.

All of these are quality tequilas with no additives like Don Julio, Casmigos and several of the bottles being recommended in this thread. You’re paying for marketing, pretty bottles and shite tequila.

Agree with all of this. If this person is a true tequila drinker they will not want all the artificially flavored shite out there.

My favorite is Cazcanes. The Repo is really good but the Anejo is even better but is a little pricy. Both can be sipped neat and delicious.

Tequila Match Maker If you don't know how a tequila ranks, you can look it up here. Typically blancos in the low to mid 80's are real good and repos and anejos in the upper 80's or low 90's are really good. Almost nothing gets scores over the low 90's
