Title says it all. I know absolutely nothing about tequila. I'd like to keep the price under $200.00. But I know from buying a lot of whiskey that a higher price doesn't always mean better. So I'm not opposed to a "bargain".
Maybe something that comes in a custom or unique botte, as opposed to the standard glass bottle. Recipient is female and has commented on "fancy" bottles before. Appreciate the help.

We always get good reactions from giving a bottle of the Clase Azul Reposado. I've never personally had it but the bottle is very cool.

If you're in BR, head to Martin's (Moss Ln) and ask them. I find they're almost too helpful at times. They probably have some open bottles behind the counter if you want to sample too.

If you just want to grab and go. Don Julio Anjeo is a great sipping tequila.

If you are looking for a reposado tequila, I like the Noel tequila that's based out of Baton Rouge. It's only like 50 or six dollars a bottle which is not bottom of the barrel, but also under $100. I am not a tequila connoisseur by any stretch, but I really enjoyed it.

"fancy" bottles
“Fancy” bottles are usually an indicator of window dressing in my experience. The prettier the bottle, the more the tequileria is trying to attract people with the presentation rather than what’s actually inside it.

If she wants a "fancy" bottle, then just but her Asombroso La Rosa Reposado or Clase Azul.

Sooooo Pretty!

But if she is a serious tequila drinker, she'll appreciate Tequila Ocho either the Plata (Blanco) or Reposado.

If you're insistent on spending some money. Get Don Julio 1942 or the others in the line with a simila bottle style.

Either one of these is super smooth and less than $150 a bottle.
My preference is the 1942

Azul Respasado is a really nice fancy bottle but it is shite tequila with all sorts of additives, especially vanilla....yack.. Cascahuin Tahona Blanco Tequila or anything by Cascahuin is really good and under $100 but its in a regular bottle. G4 makes really good tequila too.

You could certainly do a whole lot worse than a bottle of Don Julio…

Ocho & G4 are the best tasting tequilas on the common shelf imo. Both can be found for under $60

For serious tequila these brands are sold in Louisian: Amatitena, Cascahuin, Fortaleza (good luck finding any), Fuenteseca.

For a pretty bottle and ok tequila: El Magico

I would say Fortaleza.

It has been a little easier to find as of late, and Martin's carries it.

I have had the blanco and reposado and both are delicious.

I have not cracked the anejo yet, but I have poured some at work. Smells damn good.

Blanco is usually in the $60-70 range, repo in the $70-80 range, and the anejo is $110-120 range.

If in NOLA, Ricky's pointed out a few once that he said were good. I trust them to not lead me astray and just try to sell for the sake of selling.

I am partial to Suavacito Anejo (Total Wine). It's a great sipping tequila. smooth, with a little sweetness from the agave.
