Best ground meat I have ever had. Time to buy some more. My dad bought me 2 porterhouses from them 2 years ago. All I can say its worth the price if you can pay it. His beef is the best I've ever had and I have had a lot from all over the US.

I agree. Shawn produces some fine beef, and takes pride in what he does. You can even tell the difference when you smell the raw meat. It’s a richer, meatier smell than anything you’ll buy at a grocery store. The marbling is phenomenal.

Coastal Plains Meat Company in Eunice, La.
I worked with those guys in International Markets, where I set up many meetings with distributors and supermarkets at Gulfood Dubai a couple years ago. Gulfood is the largest food exhibition in the world.

That's a very big freezer you must have.

I like Cutrer’s in Kentwood. They sell their meat at the farmers market in BR.

Too late, Rosie O'Donnell moved to Ireland.

I found this thread about Segrera which was very informative: TD LINK
Seems the price in 2021 for a side of beef is about $5.10 but can vary based on the hanging weight. Anyone know an approximate price per pound who have purchased recently?

I paid $5.75 for a 1/4 recently but it wasn't from Sagrera. Call them.

He is my neighbor and his beef is phenomenal. Even if you don’t buy his read his post and call and talk to him.
Big difference in just buying. If you don’t know what the cow is you have no idea what you are buying. Grass fed is being used as a marketing tool. You might be getting a ten year old dairy cow that has been on pasture for 6 months. It’s just an old tough dairy cow.
I prefer grass fed grain finished. His angus is top tier with not much close to it. You pay for it but you get what you pay for.

Contact Shooting Star Ranch. They are in Folsom and on FB. They also attend the various local farmers markets.

Got a price list? Or what a 1/2, or 1/4, cow gives in meat?
Posted on 11/24/25 at 6:36 pm to xBirdx
We sell our steers for $6 per pound out the door. The price is based on the hanging weight of the animal at harvest. Our typical hanging weight is 950-1,000 pounds per animal.

So you have to get a whole one? Can you do a 1/4?
What variety of cuts do you get? Or can you pick?

Maybe a dumb question, but does out the door mean butchered into cuts (major cuts, steaks, roasts, whatever) or is that a separate cost?

They have a website with all this information on it.

What's a reasonable expectation for a side at Segrera?
