Looks like kin will be transitioning from ramen and dumplings to fried chicken. Citing Hurricane Ida and rising food prices. Looking to increase profits and have more customer turnover. Imagine it was difficult to make any money during covid with such a small amount of seating that they had. Makes sense. Excited to give them a try.

NOLA.com article

Instead, Kin is now a fried chicken counter, with a menu of combo plates, big boxes for parties, wings, tenders and chicken sandwiches. All of it is straight-up, takeout-style fried chicken.

His Instagram post was really heart wrenching. I’m not in the area often anymore, but I wish him the best.

“Food costs has made it difficult to turn a profit”

Or you can do what the rest of the country did and raises prices Really good ramen but the concept failed, just too much pride to say so

Chicken looks pretty decent though

Picked up some today. Nicely seasoned, if I'm being picky I would say a tad salty, but not off putting.

Solid crunch even though it was to-go. Very reasonable price. Even the breast is nice and juicy.

Thanks for reporting back.

I plan on picking some chicken, tenders, and a couple sandwiches for the game tomorrow.

Location sure didn’t help. He would’ve killed it if he were on Magazine somewhere. I think doing fried chicken at the brick and mortar and ramen pop ups could work well for him though. Miel has had a ramen pop up a couple times and it’s always packed.

As the weather starts to cool, a ramen kitchen share/pop-up could print money. There’s little to no good ramen in the city.

I have no idea. I'm not cultured enough to be allowed to follow him.

Mel did manage to break up one marriage though, so I guess it was a success.

Here's another picture of the fried chicken. Brigtsen's had it for staff meal and Chef Frank posted a picture. Looks good and crunchy.

The batter has good crunch and the meat is juicy but the flavor is bland AF. The gumbo sucks
