I betting a good number of the respondents don't even eat sushi, though, and simply put Tsunami because that's the one they "know of."

no, i was just saying that it's conceivable to me that mike anderson's was voted in by the masses as opposed to written in by the 225 powers that be.

I could see that. People are dumb.

prez .. it is astounding sometimes the number of places in this town that really do serve good quality food with outstanding service that are struggling to survive .. while the trendy joints that sling average garbage in miniscule portions and horrible service because they are doing you a favor by serving you thrive around here ...

To say the chimes is good at everything and is the best restaurant in BR is fricking stupid. It's over priced bar food. To even compare it to LL is laughable. To call yourself a food snob and say that is totally contradictory

you are a dumbfrick.

you need to go and look up the definition of bar food again. And even if your overly broad definition of "bar food" includes seafood platters, salmon dinners, and red beans and rice;
then what the frick of it? And what the hell are you talking about that it's overpriced? Compared to Louisiana Lagniappe?

$15.95 for a seafood platter is overpriced? $7.95 for Red Beans is overpriced? Come on.

Something doesn't have to be chef jean georges to be the best overall restaurant. When I go to the chimes I know exactly what I'm getting out fo the experience and it never fails to deliver, and what it delivers is something you can't get at any other restaurant in BR.

So I say screw it. Maybe it is the best restaurant in BR. Best food?
no. Best anything else? no. But sum of parts adding up to best overall? maybe so.

The Chimes is what it is. Over priced bar food to go with a great beer selection. Probably wouldn't make my top 10 favorite places to eat in the city (in fact I know it won't) and it sure as hell should never be considered tops in the city.
Really? Overpriced bar food?

As far as favorite places to go grab a bite and a drink, it's easily in my top 5. A lot of that is because of the beer selection, of course, but I'm rarely disappointed in the food. It's not a place I'd go for a fancy dinner, but it's solid.

It was a joke. I know TR doesn't really care for Walk-On's and I agree with him on this one as well ...

Right, which is why the picture I posted confused me ... doesn't appear to be the correct picture that is printed in 225's magazine article.

Is Mike Anderson's still a democrat hangout, or did I just imagine that one time? That being said, my grandparent's LOVE that place. That's always where they want to go if I'm taking them out to dinner.

Many fried seafood restaurants, based upon my observation, are this way, especially after 9 p.m.

still got its share of republicans .. but the democratic majority is starting to seep in a bit .. it is still popular with old baton rouge too ... there is still that crowd that has gone there for dinner every friday since he was on highland just outside of the LSU gates in the late 70s ..
