Yeah, I think there are valid critiques of price-to-quality, but these posts

It just seems like something an oddly bitter person would say. I totally understand going somewhere and feeling like it was a ripoff and sharing that information, but to go as far as shitting on everyone who enjoys it or maybe doesn't mind the price for the "experience" just seems so specific like it touches a nerve.
You left out what I posted before that. The part you quoted was an explanation to why SG's food is sub par, very expensive and is always packed. Is any of that not true? People highly demand inferior quality food in exchange for the social setting, therefore they are able to get away with it. No one is arguing that SG is not incredibly profitable at what they do.

They really have no reason to improve the quality of their food or charge less for it. The place is always packed with the BR socialites overpaying for food and drinks in exchange for being seen there. They will claim they are paying for the "experience" lol.

whats funny or ironic is this guy calling people in here loyalists for not calling the place awful. hes in every superior thread saying its awful and la carretta is better at half the price.
I was in one other thread saying La Carreta is just as good as SG. And please re-read this thread when you get the time, I am not even the one who brought it up in this thread, so the feeling is obviously shared with others. I simply pointed out the prices on each menu, which was roughly half the price.

My son and I went to El Tiempo Vintage Houston last week..We got 1/2 pound of beef/chicken fajitas..and it was barely enough for us to have 2 wraps each..for $39!
We used to have leftovers in the past..now they are really lacking on the amount of food you get for that price..it seems to go up $5 every time we visit.
Maybe I'll stop in for a margarita and queso...but I'm done with their fajitas.

I’ve heard they do a good job with boiled crawfish.

Wtf does this even mean? We go to Superior a good bit because the atmosphere is nice, our kids play with other friends from school and the neighborhood, the service is typically good/great, and the food is consistent. What other restaurants can you name that deliver on that many different elements of the dining experience and don’t charge a premium for it?
Pretty much everyone in this thread has agreed the food is expensive for what it is but they are able to charge what they charge because people see value in the overall product.

Can’t agree with you on La Caretta. Not a fan.

That is exactly what I have been saying this entire thread, thanks for clarifying. The food isnt that great and its overpriced bc people go for the social scene and the experience and are willing to pay extra for it.

The fajitas Del Mar at Sahuayo in Gonzales are legit

No, he said it is overpriced for the value of the food itself but worth it for the other aspects. You made fun of “socialites”, “being seen”, and “experience” with a very bitter tone. One is weighing value based on preference, the other is a straight up insult to other people’s reasons (you made fun of those saying it is worth it for experience).
You can’t just go back and say you meant the same thing he did. You didn’t.

I go to Superior Grill for the 40 year old divorced MILF with her huge alimony check not the fajitas.

One thing i miss about growing up in south texas is panaderias and tortillerias. Nothing like fresh steaming tortillas
If you want good cheap homemade fajitas pick up a package of this next time in Texas

this doesn't look appealing to me. maybe it is your camera, but the shrimp have no color and the chicken and beef are cut into pieces.

Agree
I always love the entertainment of the Tex Mex threads on here for some reason.

Yeah if you want to go cheap. Can definitely get some better fajita steak. It’s something I find worth it to spend a little extra on.

I lived in BR for 5 years, and only went to Superior once. It was a waste of money. At least the picture is truthful.

Yeah lived in BR for 8 years 2012-2020 and went to superior once and didn’t go back. I think whoever mentioned the social scene being what you pay for is correct, and being a married family guy the place just didn’t do it for me. I did go to superior on highland once too and wondered why I’m hanging out in the parking lot of a grocery store.
Same with ruffinos- I understand the socialization benefit to patronizing the place but man the amount of 40+ obviously miserable dudes who have no love in their life is a bit depressing to see on a Friday night.
Best fajitas in BR are el rancho on Florida on Sundays. They’re not objectively the best but for $10.99 for a shite load of food and BOGO cold arse beers find me a better deal.
