I have never been able to understand this at all. SG is mediocre at best, I'd like to ask someone who eats there, have you ever been to a Tex Mex that was really good?

Compare this to a Cajun Restaurant in Arkansas or some other regrettable state, you praise Le Geaux Pig because you don't know any better. Then you take a trip to Lafayette and dig into some authentic, really good etouffe, gumbo and bisque. Now you go back to Le Geaux Pig and taste it and you realize that it is hot crap.

Of course the people in Fayetteville think you're wrong because now you hate Le Geaux Pig.

That is why SG is a no geaux. There are actually a few reasonable alternatives in BR. That's for later.

I hadn't noticed, but yeah, that's pretty atrocious. At best, it looks like something you'd take out of one of those Tyson "grilled" chicken frozen bags.

Out of everything pictured there, El Tiempo looks like the only one I'd want to really seek out.

See, I think Coyote Blues is the best comparison that has been made to Superior in these threads. Coyote Blues was a really fun, lively space. The bar was often packed without people drinking and having fun, while the restaurant was equally packed with large parties and families. And the food was fantastic.

Comparing something like La Carreta isn't quite apples to apples for me. They are different places, IMO. Some may roll their eyes at "atmosphere", but it's a thing for many people that go out. If we all dined out based on food alone, La Tienda and El Tio would be packed to the gills every night.

Superior food is fine -- overpriced, some items I really like (other items not so much). However, they run a ship as tight as Ruth's at the Highland location. Their bar staff are some of the best in town. It is also a very clean, nicely decorated space that is kept in pristine condition. They keep security onsite at night. Etc.

I order a la carte the majority of the time -- chicken enchiladas at $3 each. I like the items with brisket in them, especially in queso. Enjoy the $3 glasses of wine for 3.5 hours a day. Occasional salad/soup order.

Combo plates and fajitas are a good deal for us because we split them and aren't large eaters, but the fajita prices compared to other places are definitely a valid thing to complain about.

ah the other partner. I "think" Phill still lives in Shreveport. but i really dont know.

What i dont understand is why do the BR locations not have their classic queso that they have in shreveport. It is stringy like queso flameado and fantastic.
