Is Randazzo’s worth the wait?

I went garage selling in Metairie this morning. MsAntiqueTiger wanted Randazzo’s king cake. We drive up, there’s 200 people in line, wrapped around the parking lot

It's worth it if you've never had it. But a lot of stores sell them, so you may try that instead. But you want Manny Randazzo, not Nonna. Nonna is close but not as good as Manny.

My mom's neighbor ordered one and gave it to my mom. We ate some today and I have to say it taste no different than a Wal mart king cake. Don't waste your time. Champagnes in Leonville makes waay better king king cakes.

Personally, I don't ever wait in long lines for anything, so doing that for a King Cake is out of the question.
Is it a very good King Cake, yes, but not that good.
My wife came home with a Haydel's King Cake this morning and it took her 5 minutes to get it.

I’m confused by their approach. It is good. It’s one of the better if not best one around.
I understand being seasonal, but why not crank out more? I’m not a believer that the long lines/hype generate more business when you have a superior product.

Only where social graces require will I eat a Randazzo’s king cake. That style of king cake, the cinnamon bun style, is repulsive to me. It is to king cakes what Chicago deep dish is to pizza.
