I get it for my kids because I can get two meals out of a "party pizza" for $13. That's pretty much the highest praise I have for it. You aren't missing anything.

I hate to be negative, but Cousin was absolutely correct. I do not know if the praise Johnny’s gets here is an inside joke. If it is, you got us.

This was awesome.

Johnny's was a staple for me in college.

Years after graduation, was on a trip that took me through Shreveport with my wife and son. I was remembering how good it was back in the day - my favorite pizza (it also may have been the ability to have a beer and pizza at lunch). We ended up ordering a Sweep, and it was just as good as I remembered.

As NE La native I have a fondness for Johnnys. I love it, Alexandria got one and it is the most inconsistent pizza joint I have ever tried to order from. Some times the pizza is so bad you regret getting it, most times it is manned by the most incompetent folks you can imagine. Sometimes it is both. Every so often it is like I remember with good service.

That said, I think the swamp pizza is with worst thing you could order there.

Cousin loves pizza even more than I. In 2016 he did a pizza tour of Italy that I regret missing. He travels to NYC every year to try new pizzas. He didn’t need convincing to stop when food authorities rave about pizza.

Irks the absolute shite out of me when people are either too arrogant or can’t differentiate between the best pizza on earth and a greasy football pie made with cheap ingredients in Baton Rouge Louisiana. I’m sure if you’re comparing every pizza you eat to Lucali in Brooklyn you’re probably disappointed everywhere you go. I’ve eaten at some of the best pizza spots in NY and I can still enjoy a Johnny’s pizza for what it is.

It’s honestly embarrassing that y’all were sitting there smelling your own farts out of a wine glass while you analyzed Johnny’s sauce and dough. You epitomize what I’d imagine every Tulane grad to be like

BJ’s in Pineville was great back in the day. Same pizza as Johnny’s somehow.

I can only speak for Rapides, but this is how I remember it. The current BJ's started as a Johnny's. It was great. It became BJ's. That was great. Ellic then got a Johnny's. It has always been terrible. At some point, BJ's changed the crust. It's now only mediocre, and I really can't say it's better than the other chains like I used to be able to. Honestly, I'd probably rather have Pizza Hut or even a Sam's Club pizza. We now really only eat Wildwood or Rotolo's since being burned by BJ's numerous times.

Have you ever lived outside of EBR or traveled to a country other than Mexico? If not, it is very difficult to explain. For some reason people in Louisiana north of Alexandria love it. As in they would knock over their mother and grandmother to get a fresh pie from Johnny's. It's a bit disturbing. And Europeans LOVE Johnny's. A customs worker in Amsterdam, front desk worker in Montreal, and a bartender in Madrid all got really excited when they saw my ID was from Louisiana and asked (excitedly), "Do you know Johnny's???" Probably some of the weirdest experiences in my life, which is saying a lot. The pizza isn't bad, but it's not something I would expect to have such a large international following.

I think they were brothers, or somehow related. Elec locals swear BJ’s is better than Johnny’s. I grew up down the street from Johnny’s so it’s pretty much the only pizza we had. It’s not near as good as it used to be- the crust somehow is thicker, not thinner, and they cut the damn buffet slices wrong! Pepperoni, Sweep or my personal favorite, pepperoni, mushroom and black olive, crispy crust.

It is. When traveling abroad I have had more people talk to me about Johnny’s than LSU when they learn I’m from Louisiana.

I appreciate everyone's input. I have my designs on visiting Monroe for South Alabama's football game at Malone Stadium in October. I'm hoping to have meals at Waterfront Grill and Doe's Eat Place, but perhaps I will find the time to squeeze in a pizza from Johnny's while I'm in town.

Book a dinner at Parish if you get a chance.

If you squeeze in a Johnny’s run, they have a thin crust option and you can ask them to “brick” your order....cook it a bit more crisp.

I love it. One of my favorite pizzas. I’m extra fat and dip mine in the nacho cheese

I like the johnnys In Ellick. Plus it’s like a mile from my house.

No it's not. And no it doesn't. I live in West Monroe and I don't buy that shite. I grew up on Pizza Shack, which Johnny's can't hold a candle to. Johnny's pizza is way overrated on this board. I swear some of yall don't have taste buds.

Don't waste your time bud. You'll be disappointed. Don't come to West monroe to eat a pizza.

At least Half this board can't boil water and they'll look at a recipe and tell you you doing it wrong. I can literally outcook most on here. Johnny's pizza fricking sucks.
