They recently got rid of cashew sandies (far superior to their pecan cousin) as well.

Sounded really rough in his postgame radio interview. Wonder if he might have the flu. Glad the Jags were able to get over the hump and win it in OT.

USA! USA! USA!
Glad to see Bam get back out there and churn some yardage. Thought it was a really good game plan from Major and Rob Ezell. The tempo worked really well.
I still have nightmares about Nick Coppola.

2016?

I believe this was 2013. I know Augustine Rubit was still playing for the Jags, so it had to have been before his last year which was 2014.
I'm excited for the Warhawks to visit Mobile on Saturday. I'm anticipating a low scoring affair due to the ground games of both sides (I'm also almost always wrong). ULM has a bunch of players and coaches from around the Mobile area, so I'm hopeful that there will be a good Warhawk crowd. I came over to Malone Stadium last fall and I went to a game at Fant-Ewing Coliseum about 10 years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed both experiences.

This is false and has been false since 2020.

No. It is not.

The opposite is actually true. The athletic admin tries to steer away from the use of "USA" and embraces the use of South. University admin embraces either moniker.

Go check out the MAFES Sale Store and get some muscadine ripple ice cream.

I saw Starkville Cafe mentioned and I'll second that recommendation.

My place of employment has a Mobile, Alabama mailing address.
Don't have one in front of me, but I would say cylindrical.
I appreciate everyone’s input. It seems that I have a great deal to look forward to. I’ll be sure to provide a full recap after the weekend.

Johnny's seems to be a fairly polarizing pizza parlor. The commercials were prolific during the espn+ broadcast of the USA-ULM baseball series last spring, and they depicted a visually appealing pizza. I started a thread on the food board about it and got responses ranging from "the best" to "&!$%ing (stinks)" amongst the 3 pages of replies. While I may turn out to be disappointed, I am resolved to experience it and decide for myself.
Headed to Funroe this weekend to see my Jags play at Malone Stadium. Our current plan is to visit the zoo Saturday AM, catch some pregame refreshment at Waterfront Grill, then do a little walking tour of campus before the main event at 6 PM. All of the parking info I found is several years old, but it shows that free parking is available southwest of the bayou. Does anyone know if that remains true? Are there any particularly picturesque spots on campus that one shouldn't miss? I don't particularly like to buy concession stand food, so I imagine we will put in a postgame order for pickup at Johnny's Pizza House on the way back to the hotel. Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

Congrats to the Wave.

Was Riptide the Pelican not at the game? I really wanted a picture with him, but looked around and never spotted him. I had to settle for a picture with Coach O after buying him a bottle of water because "down the bayou we don't have credit card."

Looking forward to the return trip to Yulman in 2026.

That’s right. Jags are picked second in the West in the preseason poll. Have 20+ starters returning off of a 10 win team from last season.
The Lion’s week 2 visit to Hancock Whitney Stadium does have me a bit nervous. Hopefully the Jags pay them the respect they deserve.
I was enlightened to a misheard lyric today.

Alabama - The Cheap Seats

For years, I've been singing "we don't care about the planet much, we just like to see the boys hit it deep."

actual lyric: "we don't care about the pennant much, we just like to see the boys hit it deep"
I appreciate everyone's input. I have my designs on visiting Monroe for South Alabama's football game at Malone Stadium in October. I'm hoping to have meals at Waterfront Grill and Doe's Eat Place, but perhaps I will find the time to squeeze in a pizza from Johnny's while I'm in town.

A number of great places have been mentioned in this thread. I have a reservation at Noja on Friday that I'm very much looking forward to.

Venture about 30 minutes from downtown to The Lighthouse Restaurant in Irvington for some of the very best fried crab claws in all of Creation.

Via Emilia is another excellent choice outside of the downtown area. It sits directly across from the University of South Alabama on Old Shell Road. The menu changes seasonally, with strong northern Italian influence and locally sourced ingredients. Much of the menu is made from scratch, so meals can be slightly lengthy here, but I highly recommend it.
My Jags visited ULM this weekend. I watched the series on espn+, and it seemed that almost every commercial break included an advertisement for Johnny's Pizza. This particular advertisement hailed the return of their "Sweep the Swamp" pizza. I've often seen reference made to their "Sweep the Kitchen®" pizza on this very board, but have never had the opportunity to order a Johnny's Pizza. A combination of crawfish, shrimp, andouille sausage, cajun spice, bell peppers, onions, jalapeños, and mozzarella cheese on a pizza sounds simply delectable.

Please share your "Sweep the Swamp" experiences with me.

I liked Waterfront Grill the one time I ate there 10 years ago. As I recall, it satisfies your bar criteria.

USA waxed USM twice. They must have gotten a star player back or something. They’re the 8 seed.

Started 2-7 in league play. Had a stretch of 4 straight games where they had a lead in the waning moments, but ended up with a single digit loss. After that stretch, went 7-2 to close the regular season, many of those games weren’t remotely close. 3 point shots were falling at a higher clip and they were rebounding just a touch better. USA! Because they are better? South Alabama was only a 1 pt underdog vs 1 seed Southern Miss too.

Jags are hot, but don’t match up well with Cajuns personnel. Jags are going to have to bring it on both ends of the floor. USA! USA! USA! #SIYM
