As of last week, the second pot of money had not run dry.

And a lot of small businesses are returning the money because the govt scared the crap out of them with retroactive requirements and felony threats if you couldn’t prove you needed the money right now.
A lot of small businesses are going to feel it later when all the AR is collected but no new jobs came in.

The first round was a sham. Harvard even got money. Not even sure how that was possible based on the rules I saw.

I wonder if they'll be giving out 15% discounts in a few years when things are back to normal and they're rolling along.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA, we all know how that works out.

"Oh, the BP disaster seriously hurt the oyster harvest so we have to now sell mini sacks at the same, or higher price, as the old time full sacks. However, once things get back to normal, prices will go down."

this is the bottom line. It's their right to charge whatever they want. It's the consumer's right to know about it beforehand, and choose to pay it or take business elsewhere.

I wish this was done everywhere from here on out, but that also means i'm not tipping anymore.
I would love if tipping ceased to exist in any form or fashion.

We ordered chicken nachos to go last week for a little picnic lunch. Menu price was $15, to go surcharge 75 cents, tax $1.10, but the bill was $23. That's heckuva markup, without tip. We were at the restaurant's takeout window.

Disclosure of the additional fees would've been nice.

It is not a surcharge it is a tip guarantee. You can add more but bot a surcharge.

If that’s on my bill it becomes the tip with zero more.

15% surcharge and they expect a tip, not paying 30-35%

What does the board say about tipping on to go orders in general, specifically orders that do not include curb-side service?

Depends on the kind of place. Do what you want with chain to go orders.
I routinely pick up from bar and grill places or the mom and pops. I’m usually a regular at either.

If you are placing the order and getting service from a bartender or a server, they are taking time away from customers and not making as much on those customers.
They always should get treated well

Honestly? Do whatever you want. I tip on takeout orders because its a personal preference. When I worked the takeout shift in a restaurant, it was about 50-50. So nobody is going to pitch a fit or wish death on you if you don't tip them

I realize my tipping habits aren't everyone's and that's fine. I'd never insist a friend tip more or something. Not my business.
Unless you're just a jerk who is spending your dinner looking for justification to stiff a server, nobody is thinking twice about you or your tip percentage. Turn and burn. Some will be lackluster, some will be good, some will be amazing. It all ends up a wash.

would you rather that they raised their prices by 15% on everything? One way or the other they are going to get it.

People would complain about higher prices too. It's just what they do.

i'm not tipping you when i'm the one that makes the decision to drive my arse to your store and pick up food from you. If anything, i should be tipped for it. All you had to do was make the food and put it in a box. You're no different than McDonalds at that point, and no one tips them.

This is how I look at it, but really have no clue whether or not I am in the minority. I will tip if there is curb-side service, but if I’m picking up at the register I do not tip.

If you’re ordering a $100 wine bottle vs a $30 wine bottle, at 20% you have to tip $20 in the 1st scenario vs $6. The waiter is still bringing a wine bottle to the table. So does it make sense to pay more when the waiter is doing the same thing?

I’ve waited my fair share of tables, and I feel that I tip well. With that out of the way, I don’t overtip on booze when it’s a significant portion of the bill (e.g., expensive wine, multiple bottles, more than a few cocktails, etc.). I’ll tip 20% on food and 10% on the alcohol in that case.
