I wouldn't order a steak medium to start. Second I would have just ate it the first time it came out. No need to cause a scene with 20 people. I just would never go back and would probably start a thread bashing the place ( if I ordered it medium rare).

Same, with a group of 20 at a lesser steakhouse you need to pick your battles, especially when the battle is medium vs well done.

I don't like asking for a comp on anything, and it appears you're the same way. From my experience though, any decent restaurant would've at least comped desserts for the table.. If they were apologetic and begged for mercy, I would thank them and appreciate their recovery efforts.

I have sent a steak back twice in my life. If they miss it by one degree of doneness, I eat it. Two and I send it back. Once with my wife and I just told them don't bother with the steak. I just hated the idea of sitting there with her knowing her food was put back under a heat lamp.

Hell, its just food. You get another crack at it like every 6 hours.

So you are saying since I ordered the steak Medium which is not the popular preferred way to get a steak cooked by some on this board then I should should accept an improperly cooked steak.

That's retarded. I may not have complained and I certainly didn't "cause a scene" but I am not going to pay $43.00 for a steak if its not cooked to order.

Neither time was even close to the proper temperature. Had the steak came out either medium rare or medium well I would have eaten it and not sent it back.

yeah, I don't get that either. They asked your temp, you told them, they couldn't do it, as confirmed by others and the server.

If your only option is med rare or well done, they should limit your choices.

This is plus the quality of the place tells the story. While I've never been to Sullivan's(not good apparently), it appears to charge full price. If they are off the mark enough to send it back 2x, they should comp the meal. As you stated, everyone was done when your meal finally arrived. The restaurant has ruined your dining experience. IMO.

Like others have said, I wouldn't ask for a comp but I would mention it to management on the way out, if they didn't.

OP Learn how to order a steak. I'm sure BR has plenty of "great" medium hamburgers near Sullivan's.

Leo Verde (taking a guess on the spelling) the manager at the time offered to have us back the next week and that this meal would be on him. So i agreed... but then the check came $150+ this included the wine at half price. I looked at the bill and told the waiter that we were on Leo's ticket tonight. So Leo came over and said well I sent you guys a bottle of wine so I dont see a problem (yea that I was half paying for)? I looked at him and replied that I will not be returning as long as you run this place. They took the wine off but still paid 100 plus for a comped meal. Screw sullivans and screw that douche Leo.

Better man than me, I would have walked out after the meal was suppose to be comp'd.

You should get the steak the way you ordered it. I wondered initially if your steak was undercooked if ordered well done. I can see that happening if the rest of the table ordered differently. I don't think it's right, but I can see that. Medium surely shouldn't have been an issue.

It's not owed, but a good business manager/owner would have comped something, sent a dessert or done something to keep you as a customer in addition to the 19 other people who were likely aware of the issue and could be affected.

Stop being ignorant. If he wants his steak medium, he should order it medium. It's the most common steak order, and if a restaurant is charging $45 for it, they should damn well be able to cook a steak medium.

Honestly, I don't see how someone could complain between medium and well done. I don't even know how you could stop it from cooking once you've imparted that much heat into the meat. Seems like a perfect medium would take forever as you'd have to slow cook it for forever once you seared it, just to make sure it didn't go well.

I'd 100% rather eat it completely raw than that chart's medium. How that makes someone a snob I can't tell.

You just take it off the grill at medium rare, and it ends up medium. Not really much to it.

That being said, I can't imagine being such a drama queen at a group dinner type setting.

Also my order wasn't the only one that was messed up.

The person next to me had their steak come out over cooked but the got his right the second go around.

Another person was served the wrong cut of steak. Not sure about the entire group. This was just the people sitting next to me.
