My wife is graduating and I want to take the family somewhere nice in New Orleans. She recommended Commander's Palace, but I feel there are better options out there. We haven't really ate out on NOLA expect the small hole in the wall places.
What are some good fancy places 12 people could go eat after graduation?

I mean..Commanders is pretty damn good. Obviously places like August are a bit better but Commanders is great.

Sounds like the graduate wants to go to Commanders.

Nothing wrong with Commander’s.

Culinarily, there are places to get a better plate of food but Commanders is damn nice place to celebrate.

I think the majority in the city would disagree when discussing a place to have a celebratory meal.

Commander's is one of the best places for a celebratory meal, but it may be too late to get a reservation there for graduation. It would be my first choice for what you describe.

You could look at:

R'evolution
Arnaud's
Clancy's
Brennan's
Emeril's (the wine room there would be fun)
Delmonico
And, wherever it is you find a reservation for 12 people. Don't wait too long.

Late in life degrees shouldn't be celebrated...of course you can goddamn pass easy college classes.

Make a reservation for 12 at Cavan. It's actually got some life to it inside and is good food without being pretentious. Celebratory environment.

Clancy's is a great celebration if she is graduating from Tulane or Loyola.

Awesome restaurant. Probably not best place for 12 people after graduation.

How could there be a better option than Commander's Palace? (Other than the cost of course)

I was strictly referring to food. But yeah there are very few places better to celebrate.
