There was one in Alexandria called Giamanco’s Suburban Garden. It’s closed.

Bistro Byronz will open there in a couple months.

His brother had Suburban Gardens in Alexandria for those Cenla members.

Great spaghetti and fried shrimp.

Great raw oyster bar and great bar in general.

Deserts in the jewelry display case at the hostess station.

White vinegar hot pepper sauce on the tables, basket of crackers and soft butter individual pats.

Also-ashtrays and smoking. Christ I haven't even seen an ashtray in 20 years.

It seemed to be everybody's grandparents' favorite restaurant.

One of the best places in Birmingham goes by that name. Great food and service. Neighborhood place that draws people in from across the city.

Used to go there as a kid

Yes it’s a new building. It’s where the White Star Market was.

My father used to check me out of school and we would go sit at the oyster bar and eat raw oysters about once a month. Then we would go sit at the bar at Fleur De Lis and he’d drink and I’d play pinball. They would serve me a small glass of Jax beer every now and then. That was when Junior Gercio owned and ran it. Old man Joe Ragusa was the bartender. He also was the local Ice Cream man. I can still smell the Pall Malls and Winstons. At both places.

Used to go there every weekend with my grandparents. First time I ever had spumoni, I think they served Brocatos from New Orleans.

My grandfather had his retirement party there.

They really did have the best fried shrimp. Their sensation salad was really good as well.

I also remember the pictures of “famous” people who ate there on the wall when you walked in. Reagan was the only one I recognized as a kid.

I used to work there. Was actually working there the day of the OJ Bronco chase.

I used to love when they took the batches of meatballs out the oven, the cooks would always slide a few my way.
