Is this a joke?

Best Vietnamese restaurant
1. Magasin (4201 Magazine St., 504-896-7611; www.magasincafe.com; @magasincafe) — The cheerful pho and banh mi corner shop Uptown jumps into first place for seemingly the first fime this year, and brings the title of Best Vietnamese to the East Bank.
2. Pho Tau Bay (113 Westbank Expwy., Gretna, 504-368-9846)
3. Tan Dinh (1705 Lafayette St., Gretna, 504-361-8008)
Best Japanese/sushi restaurant
1. Sake Cafe Uptown (2830 Magazine St., 504-894-0033; www.sakecafeuptown.us; @sakecafeuptown) — Diners find a peaceful coexistence of the traditional and modern in this Japanese restaurant and sushi bar. The sushi bar runs almost the length of the spacious dining room, and there's everything from traditional sushi and sashimi to creative rolls and fusion items like goat cheese gyoza and apple-banana spring rolls for dessert.
2. Rock-n-Sake (823 Fulton St., 504-581-7253; www.rocknsake.com)
3. Shogun (2325 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, 504-833-7477;www.shogunneworleans.com)
Best beer selection
1. The Bulldog (3236 Magazine St., 504-891-1516; www.bulldog.draftfreak.com; @bulldog_uptown) — Hoarders, broke apartment dwellers and beer drinkers love this bar for its free pint glasses. The bar's nearly 200 available beers are just an excuse.
2. Cooter Brown's Tavern (509 S. Carrollton Ave., 504-866-9104; www.cooterbrowns.com)
3. Avenue Pub (1732 St. Charles Ave., 504-586-9243; www.theavenuepub.com; @avenuepubnola)
Best place to get a margarita
1. Superior (3636 St. Charles Ave., 504-899-4200; www.neworleans.superiorgrill.com) — Voters head to Uptown's white-collar cantina for its killer f'rita. The pro-est of tips: they are two-for-one from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
2. El Gato Negro (81 French Market Place, 504-5259752; 300 Harrison Ave., 504-488-0107; 3001 Ormond Blvd., Suite 1, Destrehan, 504-307-0460; www.elgatonegronola.com; @elgatonegronola)
3. Felipe's Taqueria (301 N. Peters St., 504-267-4406; Mid-City Market, 411 N. Carrollton Ave.; 6215 S. Miro St., 504-309-2776; www.felipestaqueria.com; @felipesnola)
It's always obvious who is voting for these things.

Meh, it's not near as bad as some of these kind of list that come out.

Don't forget Best Pizza - Theo's

Top two Japanese places are Sake Cafe and Rock 'n Sake. Voted by people who obviously never eat Japanese food.

Best Vietnamese restaurant
Vietnamese ain't my thing, so I can't comment.

Best Japanese/sushi restaurant
Never had Shogun, but Sake Cafe and Rock-n-Sake are mediocre on their best day.
quote:
Best beer selection
Avenue is way far above and beyond Bulldog and Cooter Brown's as far as selection, both draft and bottles.

Best place to get a margarita
Not my specialty.

Superior shouldn't be on any "best" list.

PF Chang's - 2nd best Chinese...

Posted on 8/26/13 at 3:08 pm to lsuwontonwrap
Looks about like the old Tiger Weekly best of Baton Rouge dining. Editors of Gambit are probably equally as qualified as those frickheads to put out such a list.
Bulldog > Avenue Pub?
Bulldog > Avenue Pub?

quote:They don't compile the list. It's based on the very unscientific votes from readers. With their restaurant guides (4x a year IIRC), it's the major advertising edition for the year.

OMG!!!
Disregard all the good reviews I gave to Jung's Golden Dragon, it can't beat PF Chang's. My Chinese credibility is in question.

My God. This whole list is laughable.
Posted on 8/26/13 at 3:15 pm to lsuwontonwrap
It's basically just, what's the most well known in every category. I like watching folks get worked up over these silly lists.
Posted on 8/26/13 at 3:18 pm to Oenophile Brah
It's worth the price of the paper. That's about it.

Best iced/ frozen coffee
1. PJ's Coffee (Citywide; www.pjscoffee.com; @pjscoffee) — Back in coffee's Paleozoic era (1978), Phyllis Jordan opened her first PJ's to hook New Orleanians on the joys of a proper cup. Today PJ's are everywhere around town, and New Orleanians love our homegrown coffee chain.
2. CC's Community Coffee House (Citywide; www.communitycoffee.com; @ccscoffeehouse)
3. Starbucks (Citywide; www.starbucks.com; @starbucks)
