Depending on how vocal they are about it and/or what their relationship is to you, I wouldn't say picky people don't affect you whatsoever. You act as if all picky people quietly figure it out on their own. Many do not.

Say you have a friend who is a picky eater, it could cause issues in trying to decide where to eat with them, what to cook when they come over, what you might eat at their house. You finally make it to a place t oeat and your picky friend makes the meal take a lot longer because of their ordering habits, and you have it in the back of your mind that your food may have been fricked with because picky friend was so annoying. I'm sure others can come up with some other scenarios

I might be weird but I like tail on in fried shrimp, shrimp cocktail, tempura sushi, etc. I like tail on in pretty much and dish where you need to dip the shrimp. To me the tail is like nature's way to keep your fingers clean.

The hip, cliche burger. I get that modern places are too cool to give us multiple burger options or heaven forbid let us order a burger to our preference (and I'm not really after that TBH), but at this point I just skip over the option entirely (usually called "the burger" or some similar thing) which is the exact same as every other Holeman Finch style burger (two patties, American cheese, knock off special sauce, house made pickles, brioche, add pork belly for -4 or egg for -2).

My wife is a picky eater and it doesn’t really bother me. It can be annoying on vacation when I want to eat some local flavor, but she can usually find something on every menu she’ll eat. She does refuse to try Thai, Indian, and Vietnamese food though, and that’s a bummer. She did finally try the taco truck recently, and loved it. It took her watching me eat it countless times without getting food poisoning before she took the leap.

My biggest pet peeve is places that don't understand food timing. If I want to be a fat pos and go for a 3 course meal it shouldn't all hit the table at once

Well that's just good sense. I always wear my latex gloves to eat crawfish. Pop 'em on before you start, pop 'em off when you're done and your hands are nice and clean and won't burn the bejesus out of you eyeball when you go to rub it.

I agree that the trendiness is super cringe, but damn if that's not my favorite style of burger.
I went from thinking burgers were not very good most of my childhood, to these coming into fashion once I got older and becoming my favorite food.

She was a bit more adventurous when we dated and the first few years of our marriage. Her 2nd pregnancy was really rough with morning sickness and whatnot, and she lost her taste for a lot of things that she’s never gotten back. She had a horrible time after eating Chinese, and now associates all Asian food with Chinese and won’t try it. She’s gone to a food therapist to try and work through it but it didn’t help much.
