I'll never understand tail on shrimp in any dish you're not eating with your hands. Grits? Pasta and sauce? Take the damned tails off!

I guess my biggest one is obscenely large portions some restaurants serve. An order of fries at Five Guys for example. It’s no wonder this country has an obesity problem.

I don't even eat seafood and this is a pet peeve of mine.

Like why in the world leave the tails on if you are serving shrimp and grits. It makes no sense.

My personal pet peeve is pickles. I hate them, please do not put them on the plate with my burger or sandwich. The pickle juice gets all soaked up in my food and ruins the entire meal.

My personal peeve is when sandwich places forget to put the pickle in with the sandwich. It ruins the entire meal.

They probably could have charged less and stayed in business here if they had proper fries sizes. It was great to get that many in a small when you have three people. Terrible when alone.

Agree. This is like putting bone-in chicken wings in a salad.

I huess this is a new trend to maximize profits but I've noticed several places have burger and fries separate. So order your burger and then you order the fries to go with it.

Same. Shrimp salad with tails on the shrimp? Ruins the enjoyment of eating it as a salad.

I’ve noticed that as well. Some places offer free “house chips” with a $1 up charge for fries.

Doesn’t bother me. I try to avoid fries, but the $2 up charge for sweet potato fries is annoying.

Yes! This is an example of when presentation trumps common sense.

Can we make this a crusade? Does the F&D board have power?

Watery red gravies. I like a thick red gravy that sticks to the pasta it is served with, not some runny crap that leaves a puddle of red juice in the bottom of the plate.

Truth. One of my favorite things I learned from this board was in a video linked in one of the red sauce threads. I had no idea you could incorporate the sauce in the pasta with some pasta water before seving and get the pasta pre coated. When you go to sauce the pasta, it sticks WAY better.

That's actually my pet peeve. Red sauce ladled onto a plate of plain noodles.

always finish your pasta in the sauce.

another good pasta tip, when doing a baked ziti. Dont boil your pasta. Just soak it in some water for 30 or so minutes before putting in the pan. Prevents the noodles from being overcooked and soggy

my pet peeve, mayo heavy sandwiches. Mayo is nothing but added calories to me. Ive never had a sandwich that i wish had mayo on it, let alone the Justin verlander cum shots of mayo they put on sandwich trays

Boooo! If I don't get a little on my shirt, it's not a proper sandwich.

The necessity for Mexican (and some Asian) places to automatically put cilantro in EVERYTHING. Cilantro should not be the default. Keep that vile disgusting filthy Satan weed off my plate.

Ya know, I love mayo but I always found it interesting they put so much of it on finger sandwich trays since it is a relatively polarizing condiment.

Ever notice sandwich trays never have mustard? Kinda weird.

Ah, you're a taster. I am for quinine, but not cilantro.
