She was a bit more adventurous when we dated and the first few years of our marriage. Her 2nd pregnancy was really rough with morning sickness and whatnot, and she lost her taste for a lot of things that she’s never gotten back. She had a horrible time after eating Chinese, and now associates all Asian food with Chinese and won’t try it. She’s gone to a food therapist to try and work through it but it didn’t help much.

Well, hell. I apologize.

That sounds terrible—best of luck to her.

Receiving cold food at a restaurant, especially a cup or bowl of soup. Warm the bowl or cup please.

Most “picky eaters” are dealing with a clinical phobia or unresolved textural issues from childhood. I went to culinary school, am former professional chef and food is one of my great passions in life. I married a woman who has these issues. Agree it should’ve been dealt with in her childhood, but she’s not going to change now. It’s something that has caused me frustration, but i do have a little more sympathy to it that I used to because I understand it better. I really wish more restaurants understood it. A menu that is all super composed dishes with multiple ingredients makes it tough for me to patronize with her. I have to save my more adventurous outings for friends or business trips.

When the waiter doesn't take the order down in writing and everything is wrong once served.

Or when they write it down carelessly. I once had lunch at a Don Pablo’s (RIP) and ordered my usual, Rico’s Lunch, which was a pair of tacos with rice and beans. I always ordered it with an extra taco. I watched as the waitress wrote “Rico” with an “o” that looked like an “e” and added “+ taco.” So then she delivered me a plate of rice and one taco.

And the obvious pet peeve... when the entree comes out and the table is only halfway done with appetizers and/or salads.

This is a big one. I’ve been to BJ’s Brewhouse twice. Probably around a decade ago when one opened up nearby. The first time I went by myself to check it out and after my salad was delivered, it took no more time than for the waitress to walk to the kitchen and back to my table to deliver my entree.

The second time (I figured I’d give them another chance,) I went with my dad. I told the waitress what had happened the first time and to please give me time to finish my appetizer before delivering my entree. My dad ordered a salad, I ordered soup in a bread bowl. My dad got his salad promptly. I had to sit and wait for my soup. And then they delivered our entrees before I could even make a dent in my soup.

I haven’t been back. Their food isn’t that good anyway and their menu is so large that they’re trying to do too much and probably can’t do any of it well. I can’t even remember what entrees I had, they were totally forgettable. But the service sucked. I’ll never forget that.

Places that serve green Key Lime Pie. The first question that comes out of my mouth when I see it on the menu is "What color is your Key Lime Pie?"

Places that have 'po boys' on their menu serving them on all sorts of shite bread that is noting like french bread.

Welcome to a lot of places in Acadiana. I don’t understand it either.

I hate when they don't write it down, and then ask me multiple times what I had.

No apology needed. It’s the internet and I don’t take things personally. Just wanted to give more context to her pickiness.
