I like a lot of different types of wine.
Italy. The three B's. Barolo, Barbaresco, Brunello. I also enjoy a really good Chianti Classico or Super Tuscan.
California. Not a huge fan of the fruit bomb cabernets like Caymus. I've found some gems there. Zins, Petit Syrah and some Pinot Noir.
France. Yeah pretty much all of it. They make fantastic wines.

We are tempranillo fans. Have really good ones here in Texas. We also buy about 5-6 cases a year of Chianti from the Agriturismo we stayed at a few years ago south of Florence. We can have that shipped over cheaper than buying wine at Total Wine. We add some olive oil and presecco that comes in unmarked bottles to the order too.

Chardonnay is good with a butter or cream sauce. Usually don't just open a bottle to drink for the hell of it though.

Unoaked Chardonnay is my favorite. I don't drink much wine though, and I like an oaky chardonnay every now and then.
If I'm drinking red, it's usually Pinot.

My wife and I's go to Pinots are from Willamette valley. I like them better than what comes from Sonoma/Napa and Pasa Robles.

I'm also a tempranillo fan. Love Rioja.
We do the same with our favorite little vineyard in Gaiole in Chianti. Fantastic wine and even better people.

I mostly drink Malbec, Chianti, Tempranillo, or Pinot Noir.
I'm no wine connoisseur and most of my wine purchases are bottles in the +/-$10 range from Trader Joes or Costco.
I will get a bottle of Duckhorn Cabernet for certain occasions.

What kind of wine do I like? The expensive kind. Seriously. Life is too short to drink cheap wine.
I like top quality wine of all types, whether it be from France, Italy, Spain, California or elsewhere. I prefer red, but I like drinking white with seafood, it just has to be of the best quality.
As for your comment about Port, I love a premium vintage port, but I consider that a drink to sip after dinner.

I agree. There is nothing better than finishing off a good meal with an incredible glass of port.
