And he lives in Tuscany. Jealous I am.
My wife and I have started discussing an extended stay in Tuscany. Probably about 60 days. The cog in the wheel is what to do with our dog for that long.
We need to figure it out because it's something I really want to do.

That’s the best strategy of all. Wine is meant to be enjoyed. When we give someone a nice bottle of wine as a gift, it’s always with the admonition that they better drink it. None of this ”saving it for a special day” business. You open a good bottle and whatever day it is is a special day.
And don’t let anyone shame you into drinking something you don’t like. If you don’t like it, don’t drink it. As you drink more you will find what you like changes. The best way to do that is to buy new wines and try them. I recommend going to Costco and seeing what catches your eye. They have a decent selection at pretty good prices.
I also recommend the Vivino app for research purposes. You can take a picture of the label and it will return ratings from other users and it has ratings for sweet vs dry, tannins, etc. once you start to identify what you like those ratings help to see if a new wine is “in the ballpark” of your taste.

This thread seems like a good place for us to share out value wines that we enjoy. It's subjective so a value wine to some could be $10 and to others could be $40. For daily drinkers I like to look for wines in the $20-$30 per bottle range.
Here's a Vietti Barbera d'Asti. It's from a highly regarded producer and can be purchased for under $20. A fantastic value for a wine that's ready to drink now.

It's a 50/50. Room temp is definitely not ideal, but I would imagine there is still a pretty good chance it's alright. I would open soon though, personally

IMO, one of the best wine values you can find is the Bogle petite sirah. You can usually find it ~$7.50 around here. Obviously that is pretty low budget, but I find most people looking for "bargain" wines are trying to stay below $20.

Another great daily drinker. This one from renowned Super Tuscan producer Grattamacco but it's their Rosso which is made to drink young and very affordable.
