If your paying for the kid to play, they should see some field time. Quit treating rec league like its the fricking Super Bowl. It for exercise and team building.

See now you are describing how travel ball developed. People got tired of shitty rec leagues so they started this "pay for play" thing where they think just because they paid X amount their kid should be on the field.

Development is not going to happen unless you put in work outside of practice. Teach your children this at a young age and it will pay dividends in the future. I'm not saying it will get them a college scholarship or hell even high school playing time. But what it will teach them is that if you want to be good at something, anything really, you are going to have to put in extra work to be good.

Has done several mounts for me over the years and all have turned out great.
Put this in perspective at your job. Would you let the intern or 50 year old underperforming person be the one to deliver the client presentation or would you let the person with the most skill deliver it?

IMO sports is all about development for the real world. When your son grows up and has to have a job, he is going to have to put in extra work if he wants to climb his way up the ladder. Or if he wants to be his own boss and run his own business he's going to have to put in way more work than all of his employees to keep the thing running.

Practice and game time is limited and a coach has to be worried about reps for all players, not just Little Johnny. I can guarantee you if you put some extra time in working on skills with your son he will get better.

Hurts or Herbert This Week?

Posted by SouthboundTiger on 10/2/25 at 11:34 am
Kinda torn here, Hurts is almost always a good play with his rushing ability, but he's playing the Broncos D this week who has only allowed 4 offensive touchdowns this year.

Herbert is playing the Commanders who have one of the worst passing D's in the league, but Herbert's O Line also sucks right now.

What was the thread about that Concrete/Asphalt guy in BR that was crazy? I can't remember his name or his companies name, but his slogan was #AsphaltBabe
I wonder how many of the people complaining about this actually go to games?

I understand that this criticism is the way of the rant, but are you actually going to be there to care?
I haven't been in the area for around 5 years, but when I lived there my rankings were thus:

1. LCCC
2. Koasati Pines
3. Gray Plantation
4. Mallard Cove (I have not played the new one though, and it is probably better)
5. Golden Nugget
6. Lauberge
7. Frasch

MacroFactor app

What are your opinions of MacroFactor. I'm kind of over myfitnesspal, but not sure if I want to pay for an app yet. is it truly worth it?

Yep. Try to stay at 100mg. My doc put me on 300mg a day for years and I'm a little concerned it's damaged by kidneys a little.

What kind of issues have you been having? Doc started me on 100mg/day and gradually increased me to 300mg this year. He says the uric acid level has to be at 6 or it won't work long term.

I'd hate to control one thing, but then create a potentially worse problem.

Willamette Valley

10 year anniversary coming up next April, would like to explore the Willamette Valley region.

Any suggestions, must do tours, best places to stay, etc? I know April can be rainy, so would it be better to push the trip to May?
I forgot about one other thing I learned over there....and maybe my opinion of this is biased because most of the people I polled were from Allen Parish.

But they had never heard of pastalaya and were appalled that someone had the audacity to replace the rice

I like both for what it's worth, but it just furthered my formation of the opinion that they are closed minded.
Spent a year in Sulphur and then bought a house in Holmwood. We did enjoy Holmwood, but it was further away from things then I'd prefer.

The people buying them on the otherhand arent always the brightest so they indirectly cause a problem they dont know about because they are not as educated on the matters. Lake Charles has the highest concentration of these people as compared to any place I have ever lived.

My wife and I lived in LC for 5 years and then moved back to BR after Laura. It took us a VERY long time to make friends over there because we were immediately judged as snooty just because we were from BR.

We did eventually make some good friends from there, but I was a little put off by how judgmental most people were initially. It was very common for both my wife and I to get a response like "Ya ain't from around here are you?" when meeting new people. It made us feel like this region of people is very close minded.

As far as place to raise a family, it's not bad, but it's sure not great. Has some perks as others have mentioned with schools, but the food scene is subpar IMO and there is not a ton of activities to do with a young family.

The youth sports scene is pretty legit from what I hear. I have not been to a baseball tournament over there, but from what I hear it is very well run.

It's Travel Ball Season Folks

Give me your best stories...
I fly to LA for work every month. I've never had an issue at LAX, but I tend to take the same flight each time arriving and leaving. It's Delta FWIW.

I always rent a car. Hop on the bus right outside the terminal and it takes me to the rental car place about 10 mins away. Never had an issue..
Trying to take the kids to a game this year. Looking for one of these two games if possible. TIA.

I am taking 3 classes and I need 4 books

Dude what are you going back to school for? I can almost assure unless you are in law school I highly doubt you need the books.

I went back to school after a 10 year hiatus. Freshman year bought all the books because I thought that's how it was done still. After that first semester I realized that I learned more from google than my textbooks. Save your money, you don't need the books.
Not saying LAX is the best in the world, but I haven't had any issues when I've flown out of there. Granted, every time I've been I flew with Delta. Also didn't have any issues with rental car either. Delta terminals dump you out right next to the bus, hop on, ride 10 mins, go up escalator and get car.
