I used to have my own mix that I got from a friend on the bayou decades ago.

I got tired of dealing with it so just use cajunland now. I’ve tried a lot of them and cajunland just works for me

I'm a little surprised nobody on this board has really ever come up with an original recipe seasoning mix for crawfish boils.

No premixed stuff. I'd love to do it some day.

It's what I used, plus a cupful of lemon oil.

You’d be shocked at how good plain red pepper and salt works.

Swamp Dust

I’m OG Cajunland, but tolerant of other seasonings.
Buddy boiled this past Saturday and had Swamp Dust.
So now I gotta figure out how to work in Swamp Dust because it wasn’t just good, but unique. May try half and half or by the batch.

So I dont know if gueax creole changed recipes or just switched something up. Could have sworn they used to put bay leaves in the powder, but got some last week and there was no bay leaf. It could have been ground, but I thought that was weird. Taste was fine.

Why yall put all that shite in the water to boil them in?

Just sprinkle your favorite and mix in well AFTER they've boiled in regular water and are in the ice chest,

Another vote for Geaux Creole

Used theirs several years ago and really like it, but it has gotten a little pricey. Think when I first used it it was like $10-$12 a bag and now they're $23

We have someone that can't have spice at all. I do 5 lbs on the side with just salt, garlic, lemon and butter and they are pretty good. I was very surprised when I first did it.

Dry - Cajunland or Chackbay
Liquid - Zats
Bags - Zats

Salt and cayenne as needed.

HEB has gone all in on creating its own brand of cajun products, including crawfish boil seasoning. I've tried their andouille and it was ok, not great but not bad.

Their boil liquid is like opaque orange. Neither the liquid or the dry seasoning contain cayenne, which is really odd. I'm curious if anyone has tried it.

I’ve always used Louisiana Seafood and Zatairan’s. I sampled Chackbay and liked it more.

This season my wife and I have been sampling a few neighborhood markets that sell boiled crawfish. I found one that was a game changer for me.

The seasoning has a roasted pepper flavoring and additional seasoning that I haven’t figured out yet.

If that roasted pepper description leads anyone to speculate what it could be, please let me know.

But I’ll definitely be back to find out what they use either by buying seasoning or asking employees.

I know I can’t go back to the old school seasoning. I’m chasing the dragon.

I'd try it. Texas people rave about HEB.

Rouses complete seasoning in a bag is not bad. Little saltier but just add a little more water and cayenne and its great.
