Fast food: Popeyes, Raising Canes, In-n-Out Burger.

Sit-down: Pappadeaux's, Zea's, Carrabba's, Cracker Barrel (fried catfish and mac-n-cheese are solid).

Texas roadhouse is a good value, the rolls rock and the food is OK.

I actually like Saltgrass... I know a sin. I'd rather spend 40% of the money at Saltgrass than go to Ruth's Chris. I concede, everything about Ruth's Chris is better, I also realize keeping an extra $100+ in my pocket is worth the downgrade in experience.

We don't have many chain restaurants here that aren't fast food so based on the ones I've been to that aren't fast food....

Cracker Barrel's chicken and dumplings are so good.

The nearest one is an hour away (west or east) but I've always liked Hooters wings. Wish we'd get one.

Fav. fast food chains:

Chick Fil A, Popeyes

It's all edible, but their rolls and baked potatoes are awesome.

I’m another vote for J Alexanders. Consistent AF. Their crab cakes are the best I’ve ever found anywhere. Nothing but lump crab meat, they barely hold together due to the lack of filler. They are expensive but worth every penny. The service is always top notch. I worked there back in college (20 years ago) and it’s still held to a high standard.

The only thing against it for this thread is that I wouldn’t know it was a chain if not for google. I’ve never come across another J Alexanders in my life.

I'm not sure where you live and what chains you have to compare it with, but I don't agree at all.
Seems like 5 or 6 years ago they went full on stupid with their robot and bean counter chain act and the quality went downhill.
Of course the servers were still well trained, but it's like a circus of trash waiting to get in every night and they are major concerned with turning tables. I swear sometimes you can't even get seated at the table and glance at the menu before "Candice" is standing next to you telling you her name and spouting the memorized speech of how she can serve you and would you like a drink and a blooming onion.

Has someone suggested Ruth’s yet? Because Ruth’s is great for a chain. And I agree with OP. J Alexander’s is consistently good. For YEARS it’s been very good. I moved away from BR in 2005 but visit often for work and it’s always good on the list of options.
