Do you order an appetizer or desert when you go out to eat?

Grew up in a penny pinching family, so for us we were always told to order just water, and we never got appetizers or deserts.
As an adult my wife and I seem to only order an appetizer if it's a date night or nice restaurant. I can count on one hand how many times I've ordered dessert in my life at a restaurant. I'm more of an ice cream drive through on the way home guy.
I seem to be in the minority by the looks of other tables. What say you?

Sometimes an app kills my appetite so unless I'm splitting the app, or the App is my meal, I won't get one.
The only exception is good raw oysters.
Dessert maybe on a special occasion.

Half the fun is getting a good app so the answer is always yes. I would say dessert rarely, maybe a port instead.

I'm more of a fill up on chips and salsa and then leave for a family emergency kinda guy.
