Yes! Grew up with them plain and now use crawfish seasoning.

No, not a redneck. Take raw redbeans, soak in brine overnight, eat. At least you don't have to peel them.
I got to a backyard party one May, saw big pot boiling, mouth was watering until picked up the lid and saw peanuts, WTF is this shite, these aren't crawfish.
I'll save my share for the heathens who don't know better.
If you hadn't mentioned crawfish I would have thought that you were a damned yankee. It's OK though, not all Southerners have good taste.

We like them. Prefer the spicy ones to plain and I like them a little softer.

I don’t find them in the Shreveport area.

That's how I like them too. I usually dump a bunch of red pepper flakes in the brine.

The grocery store by my house keeps a crock pot of them out. I usually get a 32 oz cup full every weekend. Love them.

I think this is more of a "Deep South" state thing than Louisiana, much like sweet tea.
That being said, I've tried them in Alabama and Georgia and feel like I am missing something.

Valencia peanuts make the best boiled peanuts. The nuts are more uniform than Flo-Runners, but most any variety can be used.
I used to think they were nasty, but then a friend from the Wiregrass made some and I tried them to be polite...love them now.
I don't think farmers in the deep south are harvesting peanuts now. That's a late summer thing. It's planting time now, except it has been real dry.

Agree.
Pimento cheese also big in most of the South, but less primary in Louisiana

Boiled peanuts are one of the many things I miss about living in Louisiana. I had my first at Angola. So good
I thought boiled peanuts are pretty prevalent all around the south.
I'm in Greensboro, NC right now in the middle of town. I can go the Circle K around the corner and get decent boiled peanuts.
I love boiled peanuts. Don't do the real spicy ones though.
I need to try making a batch myself and see how they turn out. Crawfish boil sounds good with peanuts.

As a kid in south Louisiana, three sisters (in their 60's then) who lived down the street would boil and give out peanuts every Halloween. Otherwise, I nor my family ever ate them, and I can't ever remember any of our friends eating them either.
My oldest daughter here in LA loves them...but that's only because her grandparents in Alabama introduced them to her. She probably gets a cup once a week at a local gas station (which are really just the canned boiled peanuts you can get at the grocery store). However, I don't think any of her friends ever eat them.

so where are you guys getting green peanuts?
I'm in DFW and want to find some green peanuts. I wonder if I can order green peanuts from somewhere.

I remember as a kid there would be a guy on the side of Plank Rd in Baton Rouge in front of the airport selling them. He had a little fish fry burner with with a hot pot of boiled peanuts. There used to always be somebody there on Plank by the airport selling stuff where it was watermelons, strawberries, shrimp, etc. Dang I miss that.
You have no idea how much I miss being able to run down the street and get live crawfish or whole shrimp to boil.

Check in Asian grocery stores. Do y’all have Keemat up there? That’s where I get them when in season.

More places are serving these than you care to know.

Farms will start pulling in early fall - usually in September and then will continue through the first freeze.
I buy a bushel sack before halloween to boil. Hand out at halloween and freeze what's left in gallon bags.
Look for a farm that retails washed peanuts. Last year I paid $38/sack.

Grew up in New Orleans, didn't even know boiled peanuts were a thing until I moved to Dallas and saw them in a Quicktrip one day.
