I for one enjoy a rather nice Asian crayfish boil.

Lord, does anyone need Crawfish this bad? Put Crawfish up against any other food, and paying that price...is it really worth it? Are we just trying to rekindle the feeling of crawfish boils, or do we just want to eat crawfish so we can tell other people we spent way too much on mediocre crawfish you ate by your damn self?

You mentioned "Old Bay" just a couple posts in. This, basically, invalidates any assertions you might make pretending to know about crawfish.

BZZZZZZZT. Thanks for playing.

I think it's something like the Asian places I've gotten crawfish from are generally better than the cajun restaurants(not local to Louisiana type cajun) I've found. This is in Florida and Texas.

But those Asian places' crawfish aren't nearly as good as crawfish from a good old fashioned homemade crawfish boil back home in south Louisiana.

Chinese crawfish tails are fricking rancid, and you can certainly smell the difference when cooking with them in the kitchen. No one is going to convince me otherwise. My nose wasn't lying to me.

I've heard Crawfish & Noodles here in Houston is supposed to be good. I haven't tried it yet. Yeah, it's going to be different the way it's prepared, but I feel like it's worth a shot to try one day.

I prefer to just put garlic, corn and potatoes in mine.

The Vietnamese crawfish are excellent. Don't worry, the Cajuns will assimilate and in a few years claim as their own. That's the way good food innovation works.

Currently $28 for 5 lbs, and $18 for 3 lbs at C'est Bon in Mermentau.

For $46 I will have stuffed myself with delicious food. What would it cost me at a top-notch steakhouse? Or a dozen boiled "Maryland" crabs in Maryland?

I got crawfish from Chow Yum Phat once. I wouldn't say I disliked it, but by the time I was halfway through my tray I found myself wishing it was regular crawfish. I think the style is good, but it isn't something I'd plow through like I do regular boiled crawfish. The lemongrass especially is just very overwhelming.

I’ve seen variations of the purée method with garlic, lemon, celery etc

No doubt the sauce adds incredible
Flavor but isn’t that the same as making some kinda sauce to put on top of a steak or pork chop?

Most people like a filet cooked perfectly with simple butter on top. However adding a sauce to it enhances the experience for others. But it’s doesn’t mean the boiled crawfish taste better. They just doused them ina tasty sauce

When they wash them. But that goes for honkeys too.
