I've never eaten at Schlitz & Giggles but that pizza looked like shite. It looked like a 4.2 as soon as he opened the box.

Unfortunately, the best pizza in Baton Rouge right now comes from Costco.

Rocca’s is good pizza.

Wonder who recommended that Dave even go to S & G to begin with.

The best pizza in Baton Rouge was that pizza truck with trailer driven by that guy Bogdan. He went on to open a place in NOLA then sold it. .

every time I buy a lotto ticket I think to myself: I ‘m gonna open a restaurant and hire Bogdan to cook.

that’s guy made some awesome
pizza and he was just a wild
dude. He parked outside the building i worked jn during his pizza truck days so i’d get pizza twice a week when he parked there.

great normal pizza but his specials were always so good.

Schlitz Pizza is a snack/meal for when you are drunk and nothing more. And that’s fine.

This. It's a good place to catch a game and have a few beers, but it's greasy, drunk food made, typically, by college kids for college kids. Good pizza? No, but it serves its purpose. It's no different than the slices they sling at The Boot in New Orleans.

Never eaten there, but as soon as he opened the box I laughed.

Looked TERRIBLE.

Welcome to about 35 years ago. Made a big splash. Opened a bunch of locations. Then fizzled out.

That pizza they served Portnoy there was a freaking disgrace, though.

I don't think anyone ever will claim Schlittz is amazing pizza but it used to be a good time especially after a late night downtown

Right. There's no reason ANY pizza should just be straight garbage like. The whole, "well, it's not gourmet pizza" line misses the whole point of what Portnoy does. He doesn't even really do "gourmet" pizza. He makes a point to acknowledge "bar" pizza and even has a separate sort of sub-category for "college pizza" which he will typically discount for some in his ratings, but can still say nice things about if done with any care at all.

There's no reason a place like S&G shouldn't fit well in that category. That shite just looked nasty, though.

As soon as he opened the box I said 4.5. One of the worst looking pizzas he has ever reviewed.

Ate at S&Gs once and will never go back because the pizza I got was dripping in grease. Have no idea how any pizza could ever be that greasy.

No you don't. He gets cheese pizza, have you ever tried just a cheese pizza at Deano's ? It would rank in the 4's as well, it's pretty terrible.
