Well, I am also not a huge craft beer guy; I prefer wine or whiskey (I was a wine somm for a few years). I know this is sacrilegious on this board but I am not an IPA fan especially and seems that is his most popular beers from what I have read.

When there are 4-5 other breweries in the area, I'll go to them first. I am not saying I will NEVER go there but unless someone else mentions it, I won't suggest it.

Prior you said this:
"I live less than 5 miles from his brewery and will not go there. If people don't like that statement, tough titty. There are several other breweries in the area that I will frequent no matter how good his beer may be."

So if Scott was not a lighting rod right now with his politics what beer would you be getting there?

Something other than IPA. I'd try any other of the beers he makes. Honestly, I'd probably get the "Old Sheephead 2015" first then go from there.

Area is gentrifying but I'd rather be on the other side of the Greenway.

The old Brake Tag Station is going to be renovated soon and is only a few blocks back towards Jeff Davis.

There are not 4-5 other breweries in the area. The only other 1 near mid city is Second Line and their beer truly sucks, unfortunately.

And the article mentions they’ll serve wine, cider, and possibly cocktails. His sours are killer too.

I am talking about the current brewery. Between where I live and Courtyard, there are 4-5 other breweries.

The new one problem won't matter to me in the least because I probably won't be living in Nola by time it opens.

Why is the new one a problem?

Work related. This current project will be complete towards the end of 2019 so I'll most likely be in another city after.

Not taking any money out of his pocket. Just not giving any of the money from MY pocket to him.

I'll admit he's a giant asshat on Facebook.

And that's why we won't be spending our money there. There are several breweries down the road that aren't espousing about their political beliefs on facebook. Hell, Urban South held a "discussion" at their brewery about gun control or something. I have no problem with that. They didn't continually push their political beliefs on others and be such an asshat doing so.

Has Second Line improved any at all? I agree that their stuff is bad to average. I haven’t drank anything from them in a while though

The last time I was there was Father’s Day and no, it hadn’t improved any. The service is horrible too

It’s a real a shame because it’s a good location and nice space.

That’s the thing. It wasn’t that the Courtyard owner simply gave a political opinion. He acted like some intellectual supreme being who was so much better than the rest of us slugs who are from south Louisiana.

He can honestly just go away for all I care. South Louisiana has Parish, Urban, Bayou Teche, NOLA, Gnarly and Tin Roof, with I’m sure more good breweries on the way. No need to give him my money, just like no reason to give money to that bar in Baton Rouge that’s owned by the d-bag councilman.

Fortunately, I'm an adult and can separate my disagreement with someone's personal beliefs from what they do as a business owner.

It's really, really easy to not follow the guy on social media and not be exposed to things he says that you disagree with. I find that life is much, much more enjoyable to just cut the drama out.

If I stopped supporting businesses who have owners that hold different political beliefs than my own, I'd be missing out on a lot of good things.

But hey, it's your money and your life. Do as you please. It doesn't affect me at all.

Good for you. As am I, so we have something in common.

I don’t. He was in the news being an arrogant d-bag. NOLA.com. And guess what, in the real world, what you say and do in public does have an effect on if people choose to do business with you. It’s called the free market.

I don’t necessarily agree with his political beliefs but that’s not why I’m boycotting it. I’ll lift my boycott when he makes IPAs that taste different from each other.
