I have cooked using the oven method for years. bacon on a foil lined baking pan at 375 degree. never flipped the bacon. only rotated the pan in the oven after about 10 minutes to account for any hot spots in the oven. start checking on it after 15 minutes, it can overcook on you quickly.

Bonus with foil is just let it cool then ball up the foil and throw it away, your baking sheet is still clean!

I shape it into a funnel to save the grease, but then yeah, easy clean up.

Oven is the way to go.

My life changed once I started cooking bacon on parchment paper in the oven.

put bacon in oven, flip after 10 mins

I've never found it necessary to flip the oven bacon. Seems to do fine without it.

Cleanup is just throwing out the parchment when the grease is poured into your bacon fat jar.

Fixed.

Only down side is it’s more difficult to save the grease

It's pretty easy to pour off the grease.

It's better, cleaner grease too. Doesn't have all the bits and things that skillet grease does

Cooking bacon in the oven is superior in every single way: taste, easiness, consistency, time, clean up, and your house doesn’t smell like bacon grease all day after

One more benefit is, cooking bacon in the oven frees up the stove top for other items requiring a saute pan or sauce pot.

Fully rendering the fat is what matters. It takes a long time (just as long as oven bacon), but medium heat (starting cold), 15 minutes, flip, 15 minutes, cover bacon with water.

Once the water cooks out completely, you'll have perfectly crisp bacon that shatters with each bite.

I am honestly surprised by how many people are still cooking bacon in a pan on the stove ....

We used to do it all the time. The taste is great. We quit because it was popping grease all over the stove so it eventually had to be cleaned after a few times. Now I’m back to exclusively cooking it slow in pan and it doesn’t pop much at all so cleanup is really easy.

That’s why I put a second sheet or parchment on top of the bacon. If you want perfectly flat bacon, add a second sheet pan on top of the top parchment paper. Both pans come out perfectly clean

Anyone else use a cast-iron skillet in the oven for this?

I set the oven temp to 425. Put a couple slices of thicker bacon in the skillet. Put the skillet in the oven while it heats up. Set the timer for 22 minutes and it’s perfect every time.

Then just pour out most of the grease, use the rest for the eggs, then wipe out the skillet and everything is done.

I use a rack on the sheet pan so it doesn’t sit in the grease
