My receipt from a local restaurant shows the price of the drink(high) then $4.75 per as a prep fee. This is on old fashioneds. Is this common?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that to be honest.

Their drink prices are broken out by labor & materials?

That's... odd.

It’s actually a savings for you. Since gratuities are for the server’s efforts, you can just tip based on the percentage of the server’s labor, which in this case is $4.75 per. Problem solved.

Was that cost listed anywhere on the menu or explained when ordering?

Dollar per drink works out to 21% tip.

Maybe I can see this if they are listing the price for X ounces of whiskey. Like they have a whiskey price list. And then if you want to make it into a cocktail. That sort of makes sense…?

For $14.25 worth of Woodford Reserve it better be like 4 oz

I did not even look at the drink menu. Nothing was said when ordered. I only posted because I thought this way of charging was odd/unusual.

Steaks most places in Ellick are crazy expensive. Guess that's why everyone goes to Texas Roadhouse and Golden Corral
