Do you buy this? Do you have issues buying it? Does it have a diff taste? I have bought it bf but I usually try to buy local. I find Chinese crawfish a bit bland but what does the FD board think?

Maybe the Chinese( being the biggest of exporter) can come here and give us tips on how to increase production .

I have seen the "craba and shrimpa and crawfisha" farms in China and it's no way I'm putting anything from that country into my body...if I know that's where it came from.
Picture this ... feed the hogs grain on a sloped bank, hogs crap, goose eat the grain out of the hog crap, goose crap in the pond, crawfish eat the grain from the goose crap. Efficient, but crappy.

Rouses sells it, right? So it must be Louisiana patron approved.

The Chinese crawfish have a slightly different taste in my opinion. Louisiana seem to taste “fresher” for lack of a better term.
I prefer Louisiana but using Chinese isn’t a deal breaker when LA is $16 and China is $9 and you need more than one pack.

Never. I refuse to buy that shite. I'll pay 15 bucks a lb over 3 dollars every time if I want crawfish. It's criminal that shite is even allowed here.

Yes. I always buy LA product. I'm willing to spend an extra $5 to give China the middle finger. Honestly pretty heated local grocery stores even carry it.

I buy live Louisiana crawfish here in Abu Dhabi but they are from Egypt. They are awesome as they were brought there decades ago and still seem to be purebred and did not mix with another species as they are our species of La Red Claw crawfish.
I just went home to Louisiana for a few weeks for Christmas/New Years and to hunt and see family and could not get any, or if I tried to get boiled it would have been 15-16 $ per pound. I'm back in Abu Dhabi just this evening and will be buying some to boil and make a crawfish bisque. I also brought a few frozen lb. packs of La. crawfish with me so I don't have to peel as many from here. Got Chez Francois and Bonanza

Fock that. If LA crawfish were $30 a pound peeled and chinese were $10 I'd still support the local fisherman.

I would never buy that stuff on purpose.

I only buy Louisiana seafood. Couldn't give me Chinese crawfish or shrimp. Don't mind paying more for a superior product.

The Chinese crayfish (not crawfish) are nasty, and not really cheaper. The Chinese are in 12 oz. packs, the Louisiana are in 16 oz., you have to multiply to Chinese price by 1.33 to compare.

I can remember when many south Louisiana restaurants that served crawfish had printed on their menus, “In Season.” When they couldn’t get locally sourced, they stopped serving.
Now, they try to disguise that they are serving you Basa instead of catfish, when catfish are in abundance in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Bought it once, started to cook and it smelled awful and threw it out.
