My west Texas in-laws seem to think so. They always stop at the one in Beaumont when they come visit. Father in law was distraught the first time he ordered étouffée here in Louisiana and it didn't come over dirty rice.

At what other "Louisiana-style restaurants in Louisiana" have you eaten?

Would print money in NO area too. Every damn chain in Metairie is full during lunch and dinner.

The sh*t I’ve taken on this site for starting so-called “dumb threads” pales in comparison to some of the sludge that come out of the fingers of these so called “locals”

Do you work for papajeauxs? Cmon bro, you probably eat at Panda Express, Canes or McDonald’s everyday.

I’m sorry but some of y’all are straight up LOCO.

There are many more to add to your list, but please take Acme off. It’s the same kind of over priced tourist food and they stopped serving catfish three years ago

Al-T's in Winnie is much better than Papadeaux's. Can't go wrong with the Thibodeaux special.

Boomers love the Birmingham location. I'll drive by and the parking lot is always packed out.

Do you have a go-to seafood place here? The best value IMO is Cajun Seafood on Rocky Ridge. It's not the best ever, but certainly the best for what you pay.

The two best fish dishes I've ever had have both been at Fig Tree in Cahaba Heights. I haven't been to Hot n Hot in a while or the new Automatic Seafood. 5pt Oyster House was very pedestrian. Fish Market gets by on name/reputation. We go to the one on 280 a couple of times a year just because we are near there often enough, but the food is marginal.

We're not big seafood eaters, so not really. Automatic Seafood was really good, but kinda overpriced for what you get. Wife and I split an app, each got an entree, I had one beer, and we split a bottle of wine and check was around $160, before tip. I mean that's fine for finer dining, but the vibe of the place is more casual, but it was well prepared so there's that. Used to love Ocean but haven't been in years. I got really sick from Fish Market years ago and haven't stepped foot in one since.

If we have a go-to it's probably Chuck's since it's so close to the house. But we only go there once every year or two, if that. I have heard several good things about Fig Tree. I need to check it out.

We went once and enjoyed it. It was a long time ago and remember it being expensive.

That's what I meant about Cajun Seafood House. You won't have extraordinary food there, but it is priced reasonably for what you get.

We are good friends with the owner of Fig Tree (we own a business in Cahaba Heights). We eat there quite a lot........

It's not terrible but they totally lost me on the crawfish étouffée served over jambalaya instead of white rice. That's disgusting and no where is that even close to a cajun thing.
