I prefer the R&O Special
I always go Italian roast beef. And as said before if I’m in Nola and want a roast beef I’m going straight to R&Os

If I had to choose, I’d take R&O or Parkway.

Short Stop, always and forever.

Had one from there the other day. First time in 15 years since I had been.
Pretty good, but could use a little richer or more seasoned meat/gravy. Not as bland as Parkway, but still needed something

I went to Jasmine's on the Bayou today and their RB Poboy was made with their pot roast. It also had a layered of grilled/charred cheese on top that just elevated it above.

My Votes:
In no particular order!

Magic Grill in Monroe
Shortstop in NOLA
R&O's in Metry
Parkway's in NOLA
Jed's in BR
Jasmin's on the Bayou in BR
Melvyn's in Monroe
Wardro's in Natchez

I wanted to say this, but this is such a different sandwich than what most on this board think of when they hear roast beef poboy.
I’ve probably eaten a couple of miles worth of rays pe-ge roast beef poboys before they changed ownership.

I haven’t been here since I was in school and they were on N 18th.

I used to visit Chicago a lot and had a few friends up there. They would brag about the Italian beef . I swore that our roast beef was superior.

Anyway

We went on one of those roast beef tours . Went to 4 different places. One was big chain and the rest mom n pop spots. One was good and the others were …meh…

Bottom line
- the best Italian beef sandwich I got would not be top 5 in New Orleans and probably not top 10 if all Louisiana included.

Everyone in NELA has had Ray's.
People down here look at me funny when I spoon my gravy on each bite of my poboy because that's the way I was taught at Rays growing up.

Mine...better than any we've ever tasted and we've had them all. I'll put it up against anyone's. It's killer good.

The Two best I ever had were Parkway in New Orleans, and Harry’s in Larose.

Nice...

You cooked a chuck roast and how long did you cook it?

I made some last week since I live in Abu Dhabi, no poboys here. Cooked a 1 kg. chuck roast about 5:30-6 hours and my gravy was nice and brown and made a great Au Jus. Bought a French bread at Lulu, but sometimes I make my own French loaf

There used to be a gas station on airline near the Cox building. Kid Creole maybe? They had the best RB poboy I have ever tasted. When the station closed, it was rumored that the chef brought his talents to a bar on Metairie Rd, but I have yet to find it. Also, I wish Zapps would make a chip that was mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and gravy flavored. That flavor combo when you first bite into a RB poboy is the best.

I do like R&Os.
Bears is good.
Parkway is good but also overrated.
Parentons in old Jefferson is pretty great.

Correct, moved into the old Metry Cafe. Building sold and the bar and food closed to become Parish line. Has no affiliation. I would like to know where he went. Kid creole did have a very good RB PB!
