I also saw something about companies that send you beer being told they can't send it to Louisiana anymore.
I know my folks can't get their quarterly wine shipments from CA anymore. Not sure what the reason is, though.

Iirc, California hasn't been able to send LA wine for a long time

It started about 6 months into the JBE admin.

BR legalized it, but the ATC is regulating it as though it is illegal. The ATC guy owns interests in several bars which do not serve growler and is using his authority to punish his competitors who serve growlers.

Prove it. This is how stupid rumors get started.

Wine is dependent on the size of the winery if I recall correctly. In order to ship directly to customers in LA the winery has to produce under a certain number of barrels/cases per year. If they are too big, they have to go through a distributor. And the threshold for production is fairly low.

Gotcha.
Yea I was at a winery in California last year and our host said she wasn't able to mail any wine back to LA. It sucks because they had some great wines.

We have to have some shipped to family in another state who come to LA regularly.

Isn't it a woman now?
Regardless, the ATC has a long history of ineptitude and dick measuring. They decide to interpret laws with the direction of the wind.

I get a couple of cases a month and have for 5 years. I just signed for a case of Shypoke yesterday.
Some wineries don't want to get the direct shipping permit because they have to pay Louisiana sales tax and it is easier to go through 3rd party like FedEx or Napa Buffalo Shipping.
If it is a winery that has distribution in Louisiana they can ship only wines they make that are not currently being sold through distribution and they have to have a direct shipping permit.
Very few that I buy don't come straight from the winery.
I know nothing about the beer law. I know Bear Republic had troubles with their distribution (was told they got jacked around on the money and just pulled it) which is why I can't get Racer5 here anymore.

And the wind is howling right now. Hopefully I can share some more info soon. Now is not the time, at least until one issue gets resolved.

Not anymore, the bar tender said they came in and even took the crowler machine. So fricking stupid, they said they were told it was a labeling issue, they were taking a beer product out of its packaging and putting it into a can or growler with a different package.

How can they "take" a crowler machine? ATC didn't spend money on it, Chimes did.

If true, such stupidity.

It wasn't taken. Chimes employees just moved it to the back, since it couldn't be used.
I don't know the status of things there at the moment. Hope to find out soon.

Ah, the bartender told jmtigers and I that the ATC took it, makes more sense chimes just removed it.

Sort of.
But... not really.
Bars and breweries can apply for a growler/crowler permit and sell them to-go. I know Corporate Brew & Draft and Tin Roof have done so and have been selling them for a month or so now.
However, due to some omission on the part of whomever wrote this new rule, places with a restaurant license (i.e. Chimes) can't apply for the permit, so that omission still needs to be corrected.
No clue what the status of that is, is the person who put this through the Metro Council still there? And would this pass through the current regime?
