Opie,
You're joking right????

No. I cook, a LOT. I enjoy the places I listed, and frequent them. I know the managers and owners well, and enjoy the food off the menu. What's wrong with that? When I'm in the mood for something nice, I usually hit Impostatos. I like what I like, and won't apolagize for it.

Opie aren't you some type of Resurant expert?

And you listed El Magey and Texas Roadhouse?

Not to mention that Mike Anderson's is complete crap, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt there b/c people seem to like this place for some unknown reason.

What gives?

I enjoy supporting Tommy and Alex by giving them business, and the food is generally very good.

Very good CFS

Mike Anderson's

Once every 6 months or so, I enjoy the onion rings, a few charbroiled oysters, and some grilled fish with lump crabmeat.

Depends on who you ask. But I enjoy the catering side of things as well. I also have a marketing firm.

The correct answer is

Juban's
Mansur's
LA Laginappe
Monjuni's for casual
Little Village

Maison Lacour is probably the best but I've never been so i'll keep it off until I go in 3 weeks

Tigre's would have been #1 or #2 before it closed or moved and changed to Vic's chop house

Umm probably the best but you've never been? Makes no sense whatsoever. Earlier you were attacking other people's top five. Just because something is a chain doesn't mean it isn't good. Anyway El Tigre's sucked.

Apparently, in his poor attempts to be a food snob he didn't read the question. Any of us could spout off the five most expensive/ best restaurants in Baton Rouge (except Monjuni's on his list). When picking favorites, I take into account location, value, consistency, and generally my desire to go there on a regular basis.

Places like Juban's are great restaurants, but I really don't feel like going there all the time, and I never really say, "Man, I could really use some Juban's right now" like I do about say, Chelsea's tomato basil soup and grilled cheese.

There are some really good places to eat yet these list are litterd with chains and crap holes

The primary thing that's missing from Baton Rouge is good ethnic food. For all the bitching about chains, it's not as if the people in Baton Rouge willingly choose chains over good ethnic restaurants. There are plenty of ethnic restaurants in town, just few of them are very good. And that's really par for the course. I went through tons of Chinese restaurants in Atlanta before I found one I really liked. Likewise, I'm sure a place like Houston has more mediocre mexican restaurants than good ones, but they have a large enough concentration in Mexican food that a few are really good.
