Finally got to try it I see..

I probably eat at Toyko Cafe for sushi more than any other place. I really like the sushi at Yama too but for a better value I got to Toyko. Only thing I dont care for is the spicy crunchy lineup. Cowboy roll is my favorite roll in BR though. Plus they have the best Hibachi in BR in my opinion.

Louisiana Lagniappe - best seafood in town
Juban's - still excels in certain areas
Serop's - favorite Mediterranean
Thai Kitchen - Thai most to my liking
Dempsey's - narrow winner as lunch time place

1st Runner-up - La Tiendita - best Mexican in town

"Umm probably the best but you've never been"

I haven't made it there yet, i'm going in 2 weeks, the menu looks like one of the best in BR and I've heard nothing but good things so unless i have a bad experience I would say it's probably top 5.

"Just because something is a chain doesn't mean it isn't good"

No it doesn't but it really shouldn't be listed in a top 5 of a "major" city, maybe like Starkville or something.

"Anyway El Tigre's sucked"

That's nice, i've never even heard of El Tigre's what is your point?

"Places like Juban's are great restaurants, but I really don't feel like going there all the time, and I never really say, "Man, I could really use some Juban's right now" like I do about say, Chelsea's tomato basil soup and grilled cheese"

I often say man i need a mexican pizza or man i need General Tso's chicken but I'm not putting Taco Bell or Great Wall on the list of best restaurants even if I go to Taco Bell more than Juban's it's not better

The question wasn't "five best restaurants".

I'm not going to argue with you about your favorites, but there's no reason to knock someone on their favorite restaurant's and call yours "correct".

woody, i'm not trying to knock anyone, I guess I kinda just feel bad for people are unable to venture out to different restaurants and have a great "dining experience."

Some of these chains and places like The Chimes (although I think their only good dish is the Ribs) or Chelsea's may have good consistant food, but to me it lacks half of the experience of dining out. Usually if I'm eating food from those type places I'm getting it to go b/c there really is no reason to stay there and eat

I'm in the same boat about not many people venturing out, because I'm always looking for new places to try. I've eventually come to the point of just appreciating some of the places in Baton Rouge for what they are though. Chelsea's, for example, is by no means close to a great restaurant, and they do try to force the whole hippie atmosphere on you, but they do make a mean chicken fried chicken or grilled cheese and are close to home, priced reasonably, and I generally enjoy myself there, so it makes my list.
