re: Grand Isle Fishing Report

Caught 40 fishing east of GI Saturday. Only had to measure one fish. While we didn’t have numbers, the fish we caught were hammers in the 18-23” range.

re: I can't make biscuits

Posted by Geaux2Hell on 12/23/23 at 12:43 pm to
Drop biscuits my friend. My go to recipe is from cooks illustrated. If I’m feeling fancy or just want a mess I’ll go with the buttermilk biscuit recipe from FineCooking. If the dough is sticking to your hands I’d scale back on the liquid.

Crab mornay

Posted by Geaux2Hell on 12/22/23 at 4:42 pm
My mom’s side of the family used to have a big silver chafing dish of crab mornay on Christmas Day. It was my favorite. I remember it being served with Melba toast. Looking at my grandmas recipe and it calls for breakfast cream. Anyone familiar with this or know of a readily available substitute?

What to eat around Chalmette

Anything worthwhile besides rocky and carlo’s? Likely won’t be done with baseball before they close at 7.

WTB 2-3 for LSU/Bama Friday

Not looking for any bleacher seats.
Smoked pork sausage or andouille from Benoit’s in Addis. The smoke flavor is different from just about any place I’ve bought sausage or andouille from. It gives the gumbo a nice smoky flavor. Iverstines andouille is also very good, but Benoit’s is #1 for me.

re: Mower tires

Posted by Geaux2Hell on 8/7/22 at 10:40 am to
I need the old dry rotted rear tires off and the new ones on. I’ve broken the old bead and have the rim about 1/4 of the way out but just can’t get it out. Watched a couple videos that made it look easy but the rim just won’t come out.

Anyone know of a place in the BR area that will mount mower tires?

WTB Saints Chiefs tickets

Looking for 3 tickets
Doing the same thing. Figured now is a great time to revive an old family tradition. My great grandmother, god bless her soul, was a master of bisque making. She made it weekly and kept quarts in a chest freezer by her front door. I can remember people randomly stopping by to buy it when I was a kid. Let’s hope I can do it justice! The process starts in about 2 hours.
Brine for 30 mins. Pat dry and rub down with some oil and your favorite dry rub. Reverse sear method, then brush with some pepper jelly or fruit preserves (fig, apricot, peach) after the final sear.

Jones fx is NBD. He’ll be fine. It’s the lis franc and 1st metatarsal fx that’ll kill a career.

Happy to report I got a pony sack from L&R. Really nice people. They oysters are some of the saltiest and cleanest I’ve had. The tag on the bag has Wilson’s on it. Thanks for the help guys!

Looking for a sack of oysters in the Houma/Dularge/Dulac area today. Wilson’s is closed for weekend. Any suggestions?

Stayed at Victoria House. The food there (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was superb. Elvi’s Kitchen and Wild mangoes had memorable food.
Is the Ground Pati still there or is that gone too?

re: Hamstring Injury Study

Posted by Geaux2Hell on 12/20/19 at 4:22 pm to
One of the biggest things at play here is if he has a muscle vs tendon injury. If his injury is near the tendon insertion (butt cheek basically vs back of his thigh), the rehab is considerably longer. Those types of hamstring strains can linger for months. Let’s hope that’s not what Clyde is dealing with.

Wrecking Bar was fantastic. Best food I’ve had at a brewpub. Also really enjoyed Ponce City Market.

Welcoming Joe at BTR?

Posted by Geaux2Hell on 12/15/19 at 10:45 am
Anyone know when he’s supposed to arrive at BTR? Would be pretty awesome to have a ton of Tiger fans waiting to welcome him back.
Damn dog woke me up about an hour ago. I couldn’t go back to sleep. I’m like a kid on Christmas morning. Considering where Joe was coming from out of high school and the lack of interest he was getting, his story is one of the greatest in sports. So incredibly proud of Joe! My 7 year old boy looks at me last night and says “I want to do the things Joe Burrow does. I want to be like Joe.” What he has accomplished will have effects far beyond the football field for decades.
The first quarter of the Miami game.
Cover it with plastic sheeting and pump it full of wasp killer. I’d buy a case of something that has instant knock down power. There a term they use for it in the pest control business but I don’t recall it.
