Avenue Pub reopens with new owners, a tiny streetcar and these changes at the beer mecca

The tavern on St. Charles Avenue had built renown among beer aficionados for its curatorial way with traditional European beers and hard-to-find American craft brews. The modern iteration of this longtime neighborhood bar came to fruition as the craft beer movement was rising, and it introduced many to its depth and pleasures.

According to an article I pulled up using Google, the owner sold so they could retire and take care of her mother who has dementia.

But it is, or was. It was a world class beer bar a decade ago. I'd imagine it still gets pretty good press. Say what you want about Polly, but she loved good beer and made sure others had access to it before it was cool.

The old owner sold bc they were covid crazy and pissed off their regulars who refused to go back.

I just tried to look at their menu online and it is down. I did see pics of their food and the bar set-up. I would eat and have a beer there. The only question I have is aboot the sign that says must be 21 and over. is waaaaaay over acceptable or are they ageist?

Ronnie and Phil from Blue Oak BBQ are part of the new owners. They are serving smoked meats from Blue Oak, a solid burger, and bar snacks. Went over the weekend and it was great; good crowd. They are going to do well there.

I feel like the days of 24/7 are dwindling in this climate. It’s hard enough to have a fully staffed bar during peak hours.

I know her social media remarks on covid were very cringey. Blaming everyone in new orleans for the lockdowns because they weren't wearing masks, and praising Latoya at the same time.
