Headed up there this weekend for a few days. Gimme some recs. Casual food and drinks places. Kid friendly if possible. Top things to see and do. Thx!

Obviously there are incredible breweries everywhere. I particularly liked Wicked Weed.
Curate was an amazing dining experience. The food and service was exceptional. It's Spanish tapas.
Chai Pani (also a James Beard award winner, like Curate) was likewise incredible. It was some of the best Indian food I've ever had. It's all street food, so come hungry!
The North Carolina Arboretum was a beautiful park where the kids can explore the mountain area. They have gardens and lots of interactive exhibits for kids too. I highly recommend it. It's a short drive from the city center.

Also, keep in mind AVL is a super progressive city. It you are used to Baton Rouge it will be different . Old hippies, hipsters, queer people , free love and weed.

Curate is fantastic. Go there and their bodega around the corner.
Had an ok meal at Buxton Hall BBQ but this was right after their Pitmaster left.
Did not enjoy Chai Pani at all. Sorry. Went in with high expectations and nothing was met. Bad service, under seasoned food, etc… maybe caught them on a bad day or maybe the pressure of being named the most outstanding restaurant in America is too much, but man that was disappointing.
Heard great things about Bill & Beggar; Wicked Weed was a cool place, good boiled peanuts.

Call Curate now...reservations can be tight. Go for lunch if dinner isn’t open.

Wicked weed brewery has some great food. The have a grass fed burger that’s off the charts. Kid friendly and super service. More like a restaurant then brewery.

If you change your mind from casual, don't go to The Chestnut. Sucks arse if you're from Louisiana. Never had more perfectly (technically) cooked food from risotto to fish to pork to arancini. Didn't season shite

Visit Biltmore and the gardens. Take regular and rooftop tours. See all the grounds. Restaurants and winery there are great. Downtown Asheville, there were a couple of decent BBQ places I can’t recall the name of.

Asheville has some good Q places. I'd rank them:
Luella's
12 Bones
Buxton Hall
Bears
Buxton Hall is the coolest one. Traditional Carolina whole hog Q in a badass building. And the food is good. It's just not blow you away good like you think it's going to be. Luella's is my favorite. Everything they do from meat to sides is top notch. 12 Bones is really good too. Bears isn't terrible. But I would choose one of the other 3.
