My brother just sent me a bottle of it. Anyone try it? Thoughts on it?

It’s a good solid bourbon.

Fun fact: Buffalo Trace makes Sazerac Rye. I took the Sazerac House tour in NOLA this weekend which is free to the public.

Aside from Maker’s Mark it’s the best bourbon for an old fashioned. In my opinion.

For the price it's very good. There's better out there, but you pay a bit more for it.

It's a solid mixer, and has gotten pretty hard to find.

It was better when it came in a big fat handle, with an actual handle, and had the words "Old Charter Aged 8 Years" written on it.

Really? Every grocery store in Lafayette has it?

Alcohol distribution is weird. In some states it's hard to find Buffalo Trace, Sazerac Rye, Eagle Rare, etc... In some states, you can find Weller Special Reserve and Old Weller Antique on the shelf.

That’s just insane sounding to me. I literally just pulled a bottle of Sazerac Rye and BT off the shelf at the Super1 in Scott. There’s plenty of it.

Yep. I haven't seen it here in Birmingham in quite some time, and I know at least one bar/restaurant here that has it crossed out on their menu, I assume because they can't get it. And I was in Georgia last week and stopped in 2 large liquor stores, and they didn't have any either. All of the bourbons made by BT have been hard to find here for a couple of years - Eagle Rare, BT, Blanton's, etc.

I buy two bottles every time Kroger gets it. Under $22 there.

Blanton's

That’s another one that gets me. We would buy that back in college when we were feeling “rich.” It wasn’t that expensive, and my girlfriend (now wife) would say oh look a horsy. Now, it’s expensive and impossible to find.

The better question is who hasn't tried it. Very common around here. Good mixer btw. Eagle Rare is basically the same thing just aged longer. It's a better sipper.
