My wife went to pick up our daughters birthday cake Saturday. We paid for it Thursday night. They first lost the order and then claimed we did not pay for it. They eventually found it in a stack of orders not entered on the computer. When my wife asked Ed (dude behind the counter) how quickly they could provide the cake he then proceeded to verbally abuse her. Quote from Ed, "they are only human in the back and I'm sure you have never had to wait for anything in your life!!!!" Four other ladies in line were completely shocked at his rant. One of the ladies in line said business at the new location is not customer friendly since moving from the Perkins Road location.

Has anyone else received bad service at this new location? I'm planning on contacting the owners.

You should contact them and write them a letter as well. I've never had problems with Ambrosia but I grew up eating Baums and for my daughters birthday decided to get her cake from the new one on Perkins to give them a little business because of the road construction. Cake was $110.00 and looked like crap. My wife picked it up and when I called to tell them it wasn't the right color and was melting and lopsided they told me so what.

I ripped them a new one several times and won't go back. No refund or anything so I'm still bitter but they will never get another dime of my money.

Ed must have been having a really bad morning. It did not give him the right to bark at my wife. I have already found out the owners and will be contacting them today.

They forgot to put the cake topper on our wedding cake and made excuses. The fact of the matter is, we gave them the cake topper, put our name on the box, and even called to remind them about it a day or two before the wedding. They claimed they never got the topper. Three days later, they realized they had it in the back room.

They called and asked if we wanted it back. No apology, no offer to reimburse us the cost of the topper ($50), nothing.

Luckily, my wife isn't a materialistic bitch and didn't care about the topper. For the sheer fact that they are that careless for a wedding, I will never go back.

Ambrosia has really been going down hill for the past few years. I use to go to them when they were at their original location on Perkins near Siegan, then they moved down the road and the trouble began. I don't know how much control the owners have with this place, but the great reputation that they had built is going down the toilet. I will not buy anything from them anymore because I don't know what kind of service I will get, it's just too risky.

We ordered a cake for boss's day... they initially did not have my order and gave me the wrong cake. However, they were nice and apologetic and fixed the order for me while I waited.

I have definitely noticed a decline in service at Ambrosia over the past few years.

We go to Cake Palace for most things... of course, I wouldn't get my wedding cake from there, but they have great petit fours and other things.

I'll never do business with them either. Got the wedding cake and groom's cake from them for my daughter's wedding in 1997. The groom, an Aggie, turned out to be a little shite who abused my daughter and would not get a job.

I call that wedding day "Black Saturday" and hate everyone connected with it. Ambrosia, White Oak, John Folse...etc.

Luckily she divorced him and married a very nice Aubie.

Wow this is sad.. I havent gotten a cake from there in a while but I have always enjoyed their cakes and they have always had a great reputation. Maybe the owners need to know. Wonder if they have sloppy management now. I wouldnt take being told that by some punk working at a bakery.

My daughter ordered a cake online several days before needing it. She picked it up with no problems the day after Thanksgiving.

It was a doberge cake with a photo transfer on it. She said the photo turned out well and the cake was delicious.

I have never purchased anything from there but have tasted wedding cakes and the strawberry cake and they were all overrated!

I called them two weeks ago at about 4PM and asked what time they closed. They said 6 PM.

I showed up at 5:30 and needless to say they were closed.

That's just poor parenting. You should have known better to let her marry and aggie in the first place.

I agree, I spent months trying to talk her out of it. But you know how women are....she said the 4 dumbest words in the English language that female can utter, "but I love him".

Quite the recipe for disaster huh? Sounds like a tremendously expensive affair! J Folse is quite a good salesman for Louisiana, but he is also a grandmaster bullshitter. Have heard some not so great things about people who have worked for him.

The cakes are good but service not so much.

The last three times I have been there.

1. Told I owed 90 something dollars when the cake was paid for the lady had mis-entered something and it was actually showing a 90 something dollar credit.. she was going on about how big the cake was, type and that was what made it so expensive

2. Cake was not ready eventhough i arrived about an hour after the "ready" time.

3. Could not find my cake.. took them about 30 min to locate it.

Why in the world would anyone go and pay 3 times the amount for cakes and wedding cakes when they could go to Albertsons on perkins and get the same thing at a cheaper price and Excellent service.

Agreed, if people comment on getting a cake from Target rather than Ambrosia, here's an idea, don't eat it!

Yeah thats bs. My mom ordered me a birthday cake from there last year over the phone, paid for it and everything and they charged me when I picked it up so I was wondering what the hell was going on. Asked my mom what the deal was and she told me she had paid for it. She called them up and let them know how bad they screwed up and they refunded my money. They didn't even bother checking to see if it had been paid for or not when I picked it up.

Damn good cake though.

They were terrible at the Perkins location too.

My mom has been a loyal customer of theirs since they were on Perkins (their 1st location), but they screwed up two orders in a row- both times we were late getting the cake to the event. So now she goes to Baum's.

You'd think that since Baum's opened next to them they'd step up their service...not so much.

There's a new bakery in Central called Bon Bon bakery and coffee emporium if anyone is interested in taking their business elsewhere. I've tried a few of their pastries, all of which are excellent. They make a strawberry cake similar to Ambrosia's, which I tried at the business expo last saturday. Tastes like Ambrosia's basically, but it's better just because. Their sandwiches and coffee are amazing too.

I've always gone to the Baum's on Florida and I've never had a problem and the service has always been great.
