People are melting hard on FB. I don't think Karbach makes a good beer outside of BBH

Sympathy for the Lager and Love Street for me. Will continue to buy unless I detect a change in the quality.
LOL at Hay Merchant. Like those guys wouldn't sell out if someone came calling with a boatload of cash.

I like Staycation. Hopefully the quality doesn't slip

Sounds like one hell of a party at Hay Merchants.

Karbach was all over their menu, I can see why they'd be upset. They should just buy more from one of the other locals.

I have no problem buying Goose Island or Elysian or Terrapin or Founders now.
I buy it, especially Terrapin's limited offerings, but I do have a bit of sadness/bitterness in the back of my mind.

I wish Brash wouldn't be so subtle with their thoughts on the matter. Metal AF.

Yeah I never get the outrage over shite like this. I guess I am a craft beer noob.
It doesn't bother me. Now if they end up cheapening their ingredients and putting out an inferior product, then that's something to complain about. However, i can't fault anyone for selling out to the mega-conglomerates. Most that start up a brewery don't do so with a lot of money. They are following a passion and dream. And that's great, but whenever someone comes along and is willing to buy out your brewery and you won't have to work again... i can hardly fault them for it.
And did Karbach sell out completely or only a partial stake? They could have done like Lagunitas and sold a minority % of the company which allowed them to expand.
A lot of the facebook people are calling them "sell outs" which i guess they are. But if you were offered $1 billion (looking at you ballast point) for your brewery that started out as a local homebrew supply shop, could you really blame them? I know that's not exactly the case with Karbach, but congrats to them for cashing out. And from what i read, it looks like they are still holding onto all their employees and brewing the same beer.
The facebook "offeded" got all bent out of shape when Stone had to lay off a bunch of people because they over extended themeselves. Again, that's business. To each his own.

Yes, buy not buying their beer. I would do that if a brewery went to crap without selling out.

I've only had Rodeo Clown and Weiss Versa which were okay.
Sounds like I need to try weekend warrior.
I didn't realize they were a big enough player to attract interest from bmc. I would have figured st. Arnold's would be bought up long before them.

He's done this before and he'll do it again. Everyone down this way has each others back.
Hop Scholar is having a similar event. These guys are all having fun with it.

what if they started up solely for the purpose of selling it one day and cashing out?

I liked Weisse Versa a lot. One of the better glasses in my collection, too.

Tin foil hat time. Stay with me in this one. This is all part of 8thyearsenior's grand revenge. Several years back he claimed the rodeo clown recipe was his and that the guys from Karbach stole it without credit. 8th gets a job a Coors. He's a smart, hardworking dude, and Coors sees this and moves him from engineering into mergers and acquisitions. 8th is on the team that hashes out the details with the ABInbev merger. He slips in a stipulation that ABI has to aquire Karbach after the merger and that 8th is to take up head position for Karbach. 8th rides back in to Houston on his Silver Bullet horse and kicks the old owners to the curb. He then takes what was his all along.
Plausible.
