What is everyone cooking for 4th of July?

Haven’t decided yet what I wanted, looking for some different ideas

haven't decided if I want to just do burgers or smoke a butt for pulled pork sandwiches/nachos

probably do some sort of potato salad or pasta salad for side

probably do a tomato and cucumber salad too

my kids want me to make this ice cream cake that has a crushed oreo crust, a layer of chocolate ice cream, a layer of ice cream sandwiches, then a top layer of vanilla, with a chocolate drizzle hard shell on top

I haven't decided yet. I think one day I'm going to just do burgers/hotdogs, and another day I'm going to do a tri-tip.

Spent all of last weekend cooking in a BBQ competition in Texas so I'm burnt out on outdoor cooking for a few weeks.

Going to take some leftover smoked chicken and make some green chili enchiladas.

I wish I knew. Going to my cousin's lake house for the weekend and he's being real cagey on the menu and what we need to bring. Close to cancelling. He's not much of a planner and I can just imagine getting there and him not having any type of plan and having to drive 30 minutes to the closest grocery store. It's happened before with him.

Grilling pork fingers, chicken, garden vegetables and starting the day around 11 a.m. with a Bloody Mary or two since I'm not leaving the house.

The wife loves to waste a bit of money on fireworks, so I'm assuming she will make a run somewhere to get some to toss off the front porch after it gets dark.

Pretty basic day really.

I had ordered a berkshire pork butt to smoke, but seems like Fedex is screwing me. Supposed to be delivered today by noon, shipped priority overnight from Denver to Seattle, and for some reason it was sent to Indianapolis last night and is still sitting there right now.

Need to figure out a backup plan.

Gonna smoke some ribs.

Third time trying.

First time was a bit of a disaster

Second time was good but not perfect.

Third times a charm right?

May also do some chicken. Long weekend. Family needs to eat.

Trying wings on the Weber Kettle with the Vortex insert for the first time. Gonna use cornstarch & baking soda as crisping agents. Season with Honey Hot BBQ from MeatChurch and toss in a sauce mixed with pineapple juice and sriracha.

Not unusual for first attempts, especially in on new equipment.

Normal for most people if you play with seasonings, heat range, amount of smoke and cook time.

Can very well be and good luck.

I really like this rub, but found it needs a little salt added to it.

7lb porkbutt going onto the smoker with a homemade tangy sauce. Going to grill some pineapple rings to go on the sandwiches and grill some cinnamon and brown sugar coated pineapple spears on skewers as a side. Wife is in charge of other sides. Gonna set up shop in the front yard and see which neighbors get drawn over.

PBR is the beer of the day.
